The search engine giant really knows how to please its loyal followers. Users were pleasantly surprised to see a smiling Kishore Kumar looking back at them on the Google India home page; this gesture on the occasion of the legend’s 85th birth anniversary.
The eccentric, multi-faceted Kishore Kumar (born Abhas Kumar Ganguly, was best known as one of Indian cinema’s greatest playback singers, he also donned the hats of an actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenplay writer and scriptwriter from time to time. And these facets of his life are well encapsulated with the four icons alongside the four corners of the Google doodle.
Born on 4 August, 1929; Kishore was introduced to the world of cinema by his elder brother Ashok Kumar (famously known as Dada Muni), who was already an established name in the film industry.
Among his many films, Kishore Kumar starred in New Delhi (1957), Aasha (1957), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Half Ticket (1962), and Padosan (1968). Even though, not all his films as an actor worked at the Box Office, Kishore Kumar the singer reached great heights, especially during the 1960s.
He will always be remembered for his love for music, his philanthropic nature and more so for being the most humble and warm human being at a time when the world was at his feet. Kishore Kumar still continues to rule our hearts!
