2019 promises to be a great year in the gaming industry. Innovation and competition have elevated the industry’s offerings to a whole new level and driving more and more content for the ambitious audience.
Here are the six upcoming games which are launching this April and May:
World War Z (2019 video game)
World War Z is an upcoming four-player cooperative third-person shooter video game developed by Saber Interactive, published by Focus Home Interactive and scheduled for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One release on 16 April 2019. World War Z will be featuring massive swarms of zombies that recklessly rush their living prey. Focused on fast-paced gameplay — and based on the incredibly popular Paramount Pictures property of the same name, World War Z explores new storylines and characters from around the world in tense, overwhelming, gruesomely exciting missions crafted specifically for modern consoles and PC. The game is a level up with its six unique classes – Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, and Exterminator – each with their own unique perks and play styles. Players can also customise powerful weapons to survive higher difficulty challenges. The game is set in New York, Jerusalem, Moscow, and Japan.
Mortal Kombat 11
Mortal Kombat 11 is an upcoming fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Running on the Unreal Engine 3, it is the eleventh main installment in the Mortal Kombat series and a sequel to 2015’s Mortal Kombat X. Announced at The Game Awards 2018, the game is set to release in North America and Europe on 23 April 2019 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game continues the epic saga through a new cinematic story that is more than 25 years in the making. Players will take on the role of a variety of past and present characters in a time-bending new narrative that pits Raiden against Kronika, the ‘Keeper of Time’ who created existence at the dawn of history. The players are offered customisation options, giving players more control and providing a deeper and more personalised experience with variety of skins, gear, special abilities, intro and victory cinemas, taunts and brutalities that can be earned via gameplay.
Days Gone
Days Gone is an upcoming action-adventure survival horror video game developed by SIE Bend Studio, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4 and uses Unreal Engine 4. The game set in a post-apocalyptic open world, played from a third-person perspective. The player controls Deacon St. John (Sam Witwer), a former outlaw-turned-drifter and bounty hunter who prefers life on the road to wilderness encampments. The game takes place two years after a global pandemic which killed almost all of humanity, and transformed millions of others into Freakers, mindless zombie-like creatures that are quickly evolving. The game is set to release on 26 April 2019 and here is the glimpse :
Rage 2
Rage 2, the sequel to the 2010 Rage is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Avalanche Studios in conjunction with id software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 14 May 2019. It was announced on 15 May 2018 that the game’s pre-order bonuses include a unique mission called -Cult of the Death God, the Settlers Pistol from the original. The game is set in 2165, thirty years after the events of the first game. Humanity has found a way to heal the world, turning regions of the Wasteland into lush jungles, wetlands, and even tundra. Trade is growing, and a type of Wild West society is emerging. The brutal ways of the old world still remain, however, and these new, delicate bio mes are under attack by gangs that want to control their resources. The Authority has returned, waging war against anyone who won’t follow their rule.
The player assumes the role of Walker, one of the last Rangers in the Wasteland. After being robbed by the Authority, (the primary antagonists of the first game), Walker tears through the Wasteland to seek vengeance and to ultimately end the Authority’s oppression. Some characters from the original Rage will also return, such as Antonin Kvasir and Lossum Hagar.
Team Sonic Racing
Team Sonic Racing is an upcoming 2019 kart racing game and a spin-off from Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog series. Controlling of one of 15 characters from the series’ cast, players compete in races using sports cars. They view gameplay from a third-person perspective while performing tricks, drifting, and collecting power-ups. Team Sonic Racing is featuring single-player and multiplayer modes. The player selects one of fifteen characters from the cast of the Sonic the Hedgehog series to control and participate in races using sports cars on courses thematically based on locations from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Different characters fall into one of three racing classes: speed, technique, and power. Each type has its own unique abilities and skill sets that give them both advantages and disadvantages. Gameplay is viewed from a third-person perspective and the player runs over panels to get speed boosts, performs tricks in midair, and drifts to make sharp turns. Racers can also collect power-ups contained in item boxes from the tracks to gain temporary offensive and defensive advantages; these powers come in the form of fourteen different kinds of wisps, which is a recurring power-up in the Sonic series. Team Sonic Racing is scheduled to be released on 21 May 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.
Total War: Three Kingdoms
Total War: Three Kingdoms is an upcoming turn-based strategy real-time tactics video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. As the 12th mainline entry in the Total War series, the game is set to be released for Microsoft Windows on 23 May 2019. Like its predecessor, Total War: Three Kingdoms is a turn-based strategy real-time tactics game. Set in the Three Kingdoms period, players control one of the game’s eleven factions, who must eliminate other factions, unify China and become its ultimate ruler. These factions are led by warlords, including Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Jian. In siege battles, players command both infantry and cavalry units. All the units featured in the game are divided into different retinues, with each led by a powerful general. The game features two game modes. The first mode is romance, based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, in which generals are gifted with nearly superhuman strength. Another mode is recorded, based on Records of the Three Kingdoms, presents a more historically accurate version.
