There’s a reason to celebrate for Geoff Johns as he got promoted from being DC Comics’ CCO to the president and chief creative officer at the DC Entertainment. Johns is answerable to Diane Nelson, who remains president of DC Entertainment, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and president and chief content officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Johns has written Justice League, Green Lantern, The Flash and Justice Society of America due to which when he stepped into the role of CCO of DC Entertainment, he was involved in the development TV shows like Smallville, Arrow and The Flash. Recently as a comic book writer he worked on the 50th issue of Justice League and the oversized DC Universe: Rebirth special issue.
The promotion of Johns to the presidency of DC Entertainment actually took place two months ago but the studio had not confirmed the move until this week. In addition to his new role as president, Johns will continue to guide film and television adaptations of Warner Bros. DC Comics based intellectual property as CCO. As reported by Hollywood Reporter, Johns received the new title when he was promoted to head up DC’s movie division alongside Jon Berg back in May.
As of now, he’s on board to develop the standalone Batman movie with Ben Affleck, and it has been revealed that Johns will co-wrote the screenplay for Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman with Allan Heinberg from a story by Johns, Heinberg and Zack Snyder.
