A 360-degree video essay documenting how the eye perceives continuous motion from the progression of individual still frames. To demonstrate this, the 15 still frames of Eadweard Muybridge’s “The Horse In Motion” are laid out inside of a 360-degree sphere, which is then rotated at a gradually increasing velocity until each individual frame cycles at a rate of 15 frames per second. Since the sequence was set to 30fps, the frames take on the illusion of continuous motion when the sphere is rotated at a velocity of 720-degrees (2 full rotations) per second.
