How to play ‘Teen Patti’: the best online game you can play at home

The best online card games were inspired from traditional card games played in social gatherings namely weddings, festivals like Diwali, and other occasions with friends and family. Thanks to evolutions in gaming technology, the best online card games can now be played in the comforts of your home.

If you’re familiar with Solitaire, the rules are very similar to the best online card games like Teen Patti. The big difference is that these online card games can be accessed easily through mobile phones and computers, and you no longer have to sit with other players and a deck of cards, but just stay anywhere at home you find most convenient. The advantage of online card games is you can play alone wherever and whenever you want to and one of these brilliant online card games that’s gaining popularity in Indian households is Teen Patti.

What Is Teen Patti?

Teen Patti is similar to poker and is coined from the famous British card game, 3-card brag. Indians who play the best card games frequently also call Teen Patti Indianpoker. In fact, there’s a Bollywood movie named after this online card game.

This online card game was launched in 2013 and can be accessed via Facebook or through the Teen Patti app on Google Play or Appstore. Like Candy Crush, this app became an instant social media success with over 40 million users and 3.5 million players engaging in this online card game daily.

One interesting reason that this online card game is considered to be the best game to play at home is because of its easy accessibility. As long as you have an internet connection, you can play anytime and anywhere. There’s no need to take out a deck of cards when you’re playing this fun online card game.

In its early stage, no real money can be won out of playing Teen Patti, but still, it stirred up excitement among the players because they competed with each other using millions of digital chips. You have to keep a sufficient amount of digital chips in order to level up in the online card game. As the game progressed, Teen Patti was added to online casinos in India so players can now earn real money which makes it an even interesting online card game.

How To Play Teen Patti?

Before starting the game, it is required to select the minimum wager first. This game involves a pack of 52 cards without the joker, three to six players can join one game. The dealer deals out one card at a time until every player gets three cards. There will be no more cards dealt, discarded, or picked in the duration of the game. Once everybody gets three cards, players place their minimum stake in a pot. Players will place a bet on who will have the best hand.

There are two types of players in the game. One is the blind player, while the other is the seen player. A blind player’s cards are all faced down on the table. This means that he doesn’t know what his cards are. He can place a bet, which is the same as the current stake, but it should not be twice more. A seen player can see his cards before making a stake. His bet should be at least twice the current stake but not more than four times.

Betting now begins clockwise from the dealer. Every player will place an additional bet in the pot. One’s bet depends if he is a blind or seen player and the current stake. The player who stays longer than the rest of the players and with the highest ranking wins.

Is it legal to play Teen Patti in India?

Being a game of skills and not a game of chance, Teen Patti is legal to play involving real money. This online card game requires a good amount of skill in order to understand their hand against other player’s hand. Like other games, bluffing is also needed here in order to have an edge over the competitors. It is also important that the player knows when to call and when to fold.

Apart from developing skills in playing this game, one also needs to have self-control in spending money. Although this is fun to play and gamers have the chance to bring home a good amount of money, it isn’t good to spend all your money on betting for a game.

Yes, Teen Patti is a compelling card game that has taken the online gaming industry by storm. Many players are hooked with the game as it captivated the heart of gamers. There are two options to play the game. First, at a mobile casino, which can be accessed through the browser. Second, by downloading an app from either Google Play or the App Store.

#WhenAtHome, check out these Studio Ghibli classics we would love to see in live-action

Studio Ghibli is the mecca for animation lovers. Known for some iconic animated features directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli has plenty of animated films which could have been a hit in live-action space.

But Miyazaki is least interested in converting the classics into live-action. During a conference last year, one of the studio’s top producers confirmed the director is not interested in live-action anime even when Hollywood comes knocking.

There may not be any official announcement of the adaptations but here are a few we would like to be considered for a live-action remake.

Spirited Away:

Spirited Away is the highest-grossing film in Japan generating about $300,000,000, and it has been at the top of the list of highest-grossing films in Japan since it was released in 2001. A 10-year-old girl named Chihiro entered a fantasy world where she lost her name and it was changed to “Sen”. However, she tries hard to keep her identity in the strange world. The many unique characters from the movie including Haku, the witch and twins Yubaba and Zeniba, will make for a wonderful live-action adaptation definitely.

My Neighbor Totoro:

My Neighbor Totoro is loved by everyone from children to adults. The main characters, sister Satsuki and Mei move to the countryside, and meet the mysterious creature Totoro in the forest. Totoro and his friends introduce the girls to a series of adventures, including a ride aboard the extraordinary Cat Bus, in this all-ages animated masterpiece. This family-oriented feature has a powerful ecological theme, and it would be fun watching Satsuki’s adventures with a real character and Totoro in CGI.

Princess Mononoke:

Princess Mononoke is one of the most famous Ghibli movies all over the world of all time. The setting of the historical fantasy themed anime is the late Muromachi period (1336–1573) in Japan. There are two main themes in the movie, personally: harmonious coexistence of nature and humans, and life. This feature will definitely make audiences go to the theatre to watch Ashitaka, who is the last prince of the declining Emishi tribe and the princess Mononoke named San who lives in the forest with wolves, stay together.

Only Yesterday:

Only Yesterday only gets better with every minute. The intimate drama follows a woman called Taeko across two different timelines. In 1982, where she’s in her late 20s and working an office job in Tokyo, and escapes to the countryside for a break from the incessant demands to settle down and marry. In 1966, she’s 10 years old and dealing with the universal troubles of school and family life.

Whisper of the Heart:

The romantic anime describes the pure love of teenagers focusing on two main characters: Shizuku Tsukishima and Seiji Amasawa. They encourage each other to make their dreams happen and he promises to marry her when he becomes a full-fledged violin maker. Now who doesn’t like a love story? And with our favourite star cast to play the roles, this definitely will be a hit.

Kiki’s Delivery Service:

A 13 years old girl Kiki, who is an unmatured witch, and she leaves home for her independence with her pet black cat Jiji. The story is impressive with Kiki facing various problems and overcoming them, doing her job as a dreamy witch. The beautiful, scenic landscapes and the many adventures will make for a good live-action feature.

Not sure when the live-action may come out for us who are eagerly waiting, but till then, the animated version can get another watch!

SRK’s redchillies.vfx completes 14 years, announces help in the fight against coronavirus

Shah Rukh Khan and his companies – Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX – are doing their bit in the fight against the Covid-19.

Shah Rukh Khan  recently released a statement in regards to how his companies are helping the government in efforts to combat the pandemic. His companies – Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX – are contributing to a number of relief funds, including the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-Cares) fund and Maharashtra chief minister’s relief fund, among others.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal recently thanked Shah Rukh Khan for his largesse and help in these dire times in a tweet to which he replied that he is always available for support.

In a tweet, Shah Rukh wrote, “In these times it’s imp to make everyone around u working tirelessly for u.. not related to u.. perhaps even unknown to u… to feel they are not alone and by themselves. Let’s just make sure we all do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family.”

“Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference. The efforts of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji coupled with the efforts of the chief ministers, Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji, Smt Mamata Banerjee, Shri Arvind Kejriwal and all other states and union territories’ leaders have been commendable in fighting this pandemic. We have initially focused our efforts on the three cities – Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi – with the realisation that this is a start and we stand ready to contribute in whichever way possible going forward,” he said in a statement.

“At a time when the human race is facing an immense crisis, there can only be one true response: The expression of humanity itself. This is a moment for all of us to come together in a collective effort to make each other kinder, stronger and braver to face the days ahead. This crisis is not going to pass in a hurry, it will take its time and its toll on all of us. It will also show us that there isn’t really a choice between looking out for ourselves and looking out for one another. There’s nothing more obvious in the spread of this pandemic, than the fact that each one of us is inextricably connected to each other, without any distinction. So, while we do whatever we can to support each other in our own small ways, the compassion we show to those who are likely to face the most brutal brunt of both, the pandemic and its economic consequences, will define us as a generation and as a nation,” he added.

Here are the organisations that Shah Rukh and his companies have contributed to:

PM-Cares fund: Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise co-owned by the actor has pledged an undisclosed amount to the PM-Cares fund.

Maharashtra chief minister’s relief fund: Red Chillies Entertainment has contributed to the Maharashtra CM’s relief fund.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare providers: Kolkata Knight Riders & Meer Foundation will work with the West Bengal and the Maharashtra governments and contribute 50,000 PPE kits.

Ek Saath – The Earth foundation: Meer Foundation along with Ek Saath, will provide daily food rations to over 5,500 families for at least a month in Mumbai. A kitchen will also be set up to send out 2,000 freshly cooked meals every day to help households and hospitals.

Roti Foundation: Meer Foundation, in association with Roti Foundation, will feed the underprivileged and daily wage labourers affected by the coronavirus crisis. They will provide 3,00,000 meal kits with 10,000 people per day for at least a month.

Working People’s Charter: Meer Foundation will work with the organisation to provide basic essentials and grocery items for at least a month to over 2,500 daily wage workers who have been identified across Delhi.

Support for acid attack survivors: Meer Foundation will provide a monthly stipend to over 100 acid attack survivors across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand and take care of their basic needs.

Non prime time is the new prime time for kids channels during COVID disruption period: BARC report

The COVID-19 lockdown may have hit life hard across the globe, but it has boosted media consumption patterns worldwide.

After launching a special report, COVID-19 IMPACT: WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE TV & SMARTPHONE LANDSCAPE on 27 March, BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) India and Nielsen released another report, CRISIS CONSUMPTION: AN INSIGHTS SERIES INTO TV, SMARTPHONE & AUDIENCES (second of the same edition) on 2 April, to track the changes in consumption behaviours of TV and Smartphones in the last week, given the continuation of lockdown.

In the week two of COVID disruption, total TV consumption increased by 37 per cent with growth across all parameters of viewing. The current week garnered the highest ever total TV consumption at 1.20 trillion.

Kids sector retained its prominent position in the top four most viewed sectors – News, GEC, Movies and Kids. During the first week of (14 to 20 March) lockdown, there was a significant growth in viewership in the kids category (two to 14 years) by 47 per cent.

Non Prime time has become the new ‘prime time’ for kids channels during this imposed quarantined period, with maximum viewership recorded in the morning between 10 am to 12 noon.

Digital news publisher, BISBO (from the GoBisbo Broadcasting Network) also stressed on these insights as some of the emerging trends of consumption during the lockdown period. BISBO, India’s first YouTube channel for animated news explainers and commentary, keenly follows and expounds on the latest trends in news and media consumption.

Commenting on the latest report, Bisbo founder and creator Shakir Ebrahim said, “Right now, the Indian audience covets credible news, even children between two to 14 years of age. Age-wise, children between two to 14 years and teens between 15 to 21 years are the ones who are watching the most television. And what they watch is chiefly in Hindi – Hindi content consumption is the highest, rising in this time by an overall 8 per cent, followed by Malayalam and Tamil content. The number of children who are sitting in front of their television screens also shares a disturbing insight. There are not enough online options for education – meaning that this disruption from schooling will leave a dent on their learning. There is also a lot more reliance over credible news sources on television and apps, rather than news aggregators.”

These are unforeseen times, where the Indian audience, including the little ones, are adjusting with and adapting to indoor isolation and lack of outdoor entertainment options. It would be worthwhile to see how this continues to impact their consumption habits on TV over the next few weeks.
