12 teams battle it out in Grand Finale of Free Fire Tournament

 

The grand finale event for Free Fire tournament – the Free Fire India Today League – will take place at Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi on the 12 October 2019. Run jointly by Garena and India Today, the event will bring together the top 12 teams in the country in New Delhi to compete in the Group Finals

Free Fire is one of the most popular mobile battle royale games globally. It was the third most downloaded mobile game and the most downloaded battle royale game globally across the Google Play and iOS App Stores combined in Q2 2019, according to App Annie. As of May 2019, Free Fire achieved more than 450 million registered users and more than 50 million peak daily active users from over 130 markets worldwide.

Around 2,000 Free Fire fans are expected to turn up at the offline finals and soak up the exciting atmosphere in the audience, together with a community of gamers in India. Pre-registration can be done via the official website. For fans around the world who are unable to attend the event, Garena will be live streaming the event on YouTube. In addition, Sports Minister of India Kiren Rijiju, will be gracing the event, in a show of support for the esports community and to cheer the finalists on.

The final contenders are the winners of the online qualifiers held in September. Over 100,000 registrations were received for the tournament, with 5000 teams comprising around 20,000 participants qualifying for the initial playoffs.

The total prize pool of 35 lakhs for the Free Fire India Today League will be split amongst the ultimate twelve survivors. The team that emerges the champion will walk away with 8.5 lakhs from the total prize pool.

Cosmos-Maya launches sales arm WowKidz Distribution

Leading India and Singapore-based innovative animation studio Cosmos-Maya is launching its own sales arm, WowKidz Distribution, as it focuses on becoming the global content gateway.

WowKidz Distribution aims to be a one-stop shop for all distribution requirements of global animation content players starting with the widely growing key market of Asia Pacific and then expanding into the rest of the world. Content acquisition is one of the key focus areas for WowKidz in the first stage of its distribution initiative, with the division debuting its dedicated acquisitions team at MIPCOM. 

Cosmos-Maya has been the forerunner and flagbearer for many firsts within the animation industry in its region. From commanding a staggering 65 per cent share of the Indian domestic animation production market, producing 50 half hours a month to add to its existing content bank of 2000 half hours, to a multitude of European co-productions, the studio has been focusing on bringing about change in the dynamically evolving market. 

Cosmos-Maya CEO Anish Mehta said, “Our production is one of our biggest strengths as a studio and we have been distributing our own content successfully across APAC. Thereby venturing further into the distribution arena with successful international brands through WowKidz Distribution was the next logical and synergistic business decision.”

With its established network, Cosmos-Maya can leverage the extensive network of Emerald Media, the Pan-Asian media investment platform backed by US private equity giant KKR, which has a controlling stake in the company.

Asian audiences will now have the best of all worlds.”

Overseeing this initiative for the studio with a dedicated WowKidz Distribution cadre from his 10 member team, “With WowKidz Distribution, we will be the gateway for global content, into Asia to begin with and then scale up the geographies. The groundwork for the same has been on for a while and come MIPCOM and we will announce our first slate of acquisitions,” said Cosmos-Maya Revenue and Corporate Strategy SVP, Devdatta Potnis.

‘The Little Mermaid Live!’ cast unveiled in the new promo

ABC gave us the first look at the cast of The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live! with a promo during Kids Say the Darndest Things.

The upcoming special, live event, which is part of Disney’s 30th anniversary celebration of the beloved animated film, stars Auli’i Cravalho, Queen Latifah, Shaggy, Graham Phillips and John Stamos. In the 30-second video, Cravalho looks bold in red tresses as Ariel, while Latifah looks intimidating as Ursula the sea witch. One can also see Shaggy as Sebastian the crab, Stamos as chef Louis, and Phillips as Prince Eric.

The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live! is produced by Done+Dusted, with executive producer Hamish Hamilton and Richard Kraft, producer and director of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

The Little Mermaid Live! airs 5 November on ABC.

Cake and Dreamchaser announce ‘Woozle & Pip’ animated series

Cake and Amsterdam-based The Dreamchaser Company have teamed up to develop a new animated series, Woozle & Pip .

Cake will present The Woozle & Pip Adventures (working title) to potential broadcast co-production partners at MIPCOM. The 2D comedy adventure series is aimed at an upper pre-school audience with 52 x 11 minute episodes planned.

Cake CEO and creative director Tom van Waveren said, “With Woozle & Pip going from strength to strength and evolving as a brand, it felt like the right time to develop an animation series for the international market, which reflects the IP as it is today. That has meant a new approach and an updated look with the ambition of taking Woozle & Pip into the world.”

The Woozle & Pip Adventures expands the original core cast who join best friends Woozle and Pip on their adventures. Cheeky Charlie the energetic puppy; curious Sophie; adventurous explorer mole and butterfly their little cheerleader explore the world around them, playing and stumbling on unexpected adventures, while learning from their mistakes. With themes of friendship and teamwork, together they discover there is a lot more fun to be had around every corner!

The Dreamchaser Company DinandWoesthoff said, “We have been dreaming about a Woozle & Pip series for an international audience for some time. Marvel Comics relaunching new ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series in Jan 2020

Marvel is launching a new Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series by Al Ewing and Juann Cabal in January 2020. The title was announced during Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic Con 2019.

As an announcement reads : Ewing’s spin on Marvel’s flagship cosmic title is sure to be intense, putting the Guardians in the center of a new intergalactic war and going up against the latest threats facing the galaxy, including the reborn Dark Gods of Olympus. 

Guardians of the Galaxy: Space is the Place, is a high-octane spy-fi action-adventure set against an evolving backdrop of interstellar politics, intrigue and suspense. War is coming – and if the Guardians can’t stop it, they’re going to be right in the middle. We’re playing with all of the space empires, all of the high cosmic space stuff, we’re smashing it all together … stuff is coming,” said Ewing.

The synopsis follows like :

Once, they were a team of misfits. Now they’re a family, and they’ve earned their peace. But the universe is not a peaceful place — and it’s only getting worse. The Great Empires are in turmoil. Rick and Morty Season 4 release date is out

Rick and Morty fans adventures are right around the corner on Adult Swim. Season four of Rick and Morty will aired on 10 November. Fans had been buzzing for a release date and their prayers were answered on Sunday night. The network posted the information on Twitter and boasted of some of the episodes on tap for this season.

Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have been on it for a while. . All of the new footage shows that Rick is still snarky that made the series a hit back when it debuted.

Some Rick and Morty staples like the Meseeks make an appearance too, which will probably make a bunch of people out there excited. Speaking of series running gags, all of you Cronenburg Morty fans have a lot of body horror to look at over the course of the season as well.

“I think it’s safe to say without fear of being wrong that the gap between seasons three and four will be the longest and last time that it’s ever so long that it’s ridiculous,” Harmon told Entertainment Weekly in an interview. “I don’t know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be this long again. There were so many things that had to be settled before we even started season four, and it’s really safe to say — as Justin says — we’re literally writing season five while finishing season four just to force ourselves to commit to a certain schedule.”

Delays, odd scheduling, and downright obtuse comments have plagued Rick and Morty over the show’s run. Each season has dished out a number of highlights and then a crushing wait for the next batch of episodes.

The fourth season of Rick and Morty begins on 10 November at 11:30 pm on Adult Swim.
