Card stealing crow goes viral in Japan

A video showing a crow stealing a passenger’s prepaid transportation card at a Tokyo’s train station has gained nearly 3 million views on Twitter since the video was posted last week.

In the video posted by Twitter user @kinoshi42155049 on May 1, the crow appeared to steal a woman’s card, which had been ejected from a ticket machine, presumably after having been recharged.

Media reports on the crow showed that previous stolen cards were often placed on the roofs of taxis or bus stations nearby.

But those may be the last sightings of the crow: media reports say it has since been captured by a local resident who lives nearby the station.

SpotMini Autonomous Navigation

SpotMini autonomously navigates a specified route through an office and lab facility. Before the test, the robot is manually driven through the space so it can build a map of the space using visual data from cameras mounted on the front, back and sides of the robot. During the autonomous run, SpotMini uses data from the cameras to localize itself in the map and to detect and avoid obstacles. Once the operator presses ‘GO’ at the beginning of the video, the robot is on its own. Total walk time for this route is just over 6 minutes. (The QR codes visible in the video are used to measure performance, not for navigation.)

Mudfest

Every June, on a small farm in rural Wisconsin, a large crowd assembles. A remote field is flooded and turned in to a giant mud pit for people to test their grit and see what their homemade tough trucks can do. What started out as a gathering of friends 20 years ago has now become one of the most anticipated days of the year for many. Routinely drawing 1,500+ people to attend, this event has become the ultimate playground for a group of diehards who just love to play in the mud. The Hawk Eye : a three axis tourbillon project

More than 5 years ago, Vianney Halter invented a stunning mechanism for a luxury watch. It certainly is not the type of watch anyone would expect to wear as this piece of jewelry coasts at least several hundred thousands dollars! One day I discovered a similar 3d printable project designed by Adam Wrigley so I asked myself : “could it be possible to reproduce it in a way it would be even more similar to the original?” Well the answer is in the video.
