Marvel releases ‘Black Panther’ animated show on YouTube for free viewership

The astronomical success of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther notwithstanding, Marvel turned to their bulging vault and picked up the 2010 animated television series on the African superhero to re-release on YouTube, and moreover, for free.

Produced by Marvel Knights Television, the series although chronicles T’Challa’s coronation as the king of Wakanda whilst also tracing the rich history of the fictitious African kingdom, it differs slightly from its live-action equivalent. Whilst we had Eric Killmonger trying to upset the applecart with his sinister schemes in Coogler’s adaption, here, Klaw, the murderer of T’Challa’s father, is the pantomime villain who then goes on to form a league of outlaws featuring Juggernaut, the Vatican Black Knight and Russian Radioactive Man to name a few.

And even if the series doesn’t feature some of the pre-eminent characters of the film such as Nakia and Dora Milaje leader Okoye, the fans do get to witness another healthy dose of shenanigans from T’Challa’s impish sister Shuri, who’s voiced by Golden Globe nominated actress Kerry Washington.

A six-episode series, Black Panther: The Animated Series also shows the titular character crossing paths with fellow Avenger Captain America, as well as with X-Men’s Storm, who for the record, is an African descendant.

The Chadwick Boseman-starrer resonated with the fans world over, grossing over $1 billion in net collections and breaking several box-office records. But with Marvel’s animation show on the hero resurfacing and also free for viewing, the Black Panther fans have another reason to cheer.

All the episodes can be streamed on Marvel’s official YouTube handle, Marvel Entertainment.

‘Hotel Transylvania 3’ trailer: Gear up for cruise vacation…or mayhem?

The owner of Hotel Transylvania, Count Dracula is back with mayhem! And this time, it’s all about a summer vacation creating havoc and making you roll with laughter. Sony Pictures Animation has released the third installment of the franchise, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.

Dracula boards the cruise with his buddies for what he thinks is a dream vacation. He falls for the mysterious Captain Ericka and his vacation turns into a nightmare.

The synopsis of the story go like this: The trailer shows the monsters on a luxury cruise ship. Mavis, daughter of Drac surprises him with a family voyage on a luxury monster cruise ship so he can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Dracula and his pals as they enjoy the shipboard fun that the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to colossus sized buffet and exotic locations. The vacation then takes a deadly turn when Mavis realises her dad’s falling for the Captain of the ship, who plans on destroying the monsterkind. Balancing family, friends, and a budding romance might just be too much, even for the most powerful vampire.

The fantastic screenplay, stunning colours, the visually appealing overall look and the multiple gags throughout the trailer promise to offer a wholesome comical treat.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation cast includes the same old pack reprising the roles: Adam Sandler as Dracula, Andy Samberg as Johny, Selena Gomez as Mavis, Kevin James as Frank, David Spade as Griffin the invisible man, Steve Buscemi as Wayne, Keegan-Michael Key as Murray the mummy, Molly Shannon as Wanda and Eunice as Fran Drescher. Joining the cast will be Jim Gaffigan, Kathryn Hahn and Mel Brooks.

Produced by Michelle Murdocca, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and written by Tartakovsky and Michael McCullers, the Dracula returns with his gang in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation on 13 July 2018.

Ubisoft strengthens its presence in India with announcement of new studio in Mumbai

Today, Ubisoft announced that it plans to increase its creative capacities in India with the upcoming opening of Ubisoft Mumbai. The new studio will participate in co-development of AAA games for some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, and expect to add at least 100 new talents to Ubisoft’s creative workforce in their two first years of operation.

The new studio will plug into Ubisoft’s cross-studio collaboration approach, in which Ubisoft studios from across the globe work together on AAA game development and live operations, with each studio providing distinct contributions based on their areas of expertise. Ubisoft is already present in India (Pune) and Mumbai studio will help, the company believes, in reinforcing and consolidating Ubisoft’s game development ecosystem.

Ubisoft, Pune Studios

Ubisoft has been in the country for a while now. Recently, other global names from the gaming industry like Riot Games and Yozoo Games have also set shops in India. With the gaming market predicted to grow in the country, Ubisoft seems to be strengthening its presence. The new studio will be located at Hiranandani Business Park, in Powai and is expected to be operational from June.

“This year marks the tenth anniversary of Ubisoft’s presence in India. Our commitment to India is now strengthened by the new expansions in Mumbai. Mumbai being one of the biggest cities in the world, the opening of a new studio here will allow us to reach out to both national and international talents. By opening up to this wide high-potential talent pool, I’m confident Mumbai studio will help us attract more creative profiles and expand the diversity of our internal creative force,” said Ubisoft worldwide studios executive director Christine Burgess-Quémard. “I am proud to see how our production presence is growing, and strongly believe that it is by investing and expanding our knowledge and expertise internally that we will be able to keep delivering the high quality entertainment experiences of the future.”

Ubisoft Mumbai will report directly to Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, managing director of the Pune studio. The Ubisoft Mumbai team will work closely with Ubisoft Pune, collaborating on the development of Ubisoft’s AAA console games. Several senior team members from Pune will also join the new studio in Mumbai to build the local core team and help new recruits to ramp up quickly. The studio is looking to recruit up to 100 talents within two years with a focus on hiring programmers and artists. Ubisoft Mumbai will also collaborate with the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai by becoming clients of IIT-B Research Park Foundation to work on research topics with a focus mainly on Machine Learning & AI and Intuit Lab for Game Art, both schools known to train the brightest talents from India.

“I’m very excited to see our presence growing in the country. Opening a studio in one of the world’s biggest and most dynamic cities will open the doors to a new pool of talents,” said Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai MD Jean-Philippe Pieuchot. “Our ambition is to contribute towards the development of the Indian video game ecosystem by partnering closely with top schools and institutions.”

Marvel release official trailer of ‘Cloak and Dagger’

In the long conveyor belt of Marvel comics that are translated onto the TV screens, the latest to pop out of the same is Cloak and Dagger, the official trailer of which the studios released earlier in the day.

Based on two teenagers Tyron Johnson, or Cloak, and Tandy Bowen, or Dagger, the story revolves around how the two got involved in a freak accident during their yesteryear that ended up gifting them contrasting superpowers, only for destiny to unite them several years later. The newly launched clip gives a further insight into the theory.

Probing how that fateful night connects the two youngsters supernaturally, it later cuts to their present days when Tyron and Tandy’s path converge at an elementary school, while they are completely unbeknownst about the past occurrences, initially. But fate brings them together through some difficult circumstances, by which they then realise their powers – ability to engulf darkness and emit daggers of light, respectively.

Opposite energies attract, says an old cliche. And it certainly plays a part here too as Tyron and Tandy are drawn close to each other romantically as well. But not everything’s rosy in the garden. This closeness actually drifts them further apart, as their superpowers don’t let them be in close confines of each other, even if their destinies are entwined.

Produced by Marvel Television, Cloak and Dagger comics is written by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan, and premiers on 7 June 2018 on Freeform.
