Delhi Comic Con 2017: The capital city’s biggest pop culture event of the year is here!
Posted in: AnimationComic Con India is back with its seventh edition of Maruti Suzuki Delhi Comic Con which will take place from 15 to 17 December 2017 at NSIC Grounds, Okhla.
This year’s action packed show features the best of comics, merchandise, toys, experiential zones, international guests, meet and greet sessions, gaming tournaments, fan meet-ups and much more.
International guests like Archie comics artist Dan Parent; creator of popular webcomics series Dinosaur Comics, Ryan North, and multiple Eisner award winning artist and writer of The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, Sonny Liew, will be attending and taking sessions at the event.
This year, Comic Con India has launched a live stage presented by Maruti Suzuki and hosted by VJ Zerxes Wadia. First of its kind, live studio from the show floor will be capturing all the action at the DCC, bringing the show live to audiences at home.
For all the raring fans in Delhi awaiting the events, passes will be available on the website as well as at the venue.

Cosplay (a costume contest), one of the major attractions at the gathering, will continue to give assured prizes to people in great costumes. Comic Con India under its five categories – Comic book/graphic novel; animated series/movie; manga/anime; sci-fi/fantasy and gaming will choose one winner in each category each day. Also, one lucky winner out of the chosen five will get a chance to win Rs.50,000 cash prize. The winners automatically enter the running to represent India at the Crown World Championship of Cosplay in Chicago.
There will also be exclusive gaming zones at the event like Maruti Suzuki zone, Transformers zone by Hasbro, Star Wars by Disney India, AXN Zone, ESL India Premiership Finale, VR Dome, Amazon Prime video experience along with many more.
Some of the key publishers at the Delhi Comic Con 2017 include Viz Media by Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House India, HarperCollins Publishers India, Graphic India, ICBM Comics and more.

The day has finally arrived; Boom! Studios release yet another issue to add depth to their famous franchise, Power Rangers. You will be filled with wonder, as this comic takes you back in time to 1969’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The story revolves around the original team with characters like Tommy (White), Kimberley (Pink), Trini (Yellow), Adam (Black) and Billy (Blue).
And a blast from the past for the fans, with the Zords of old like the falcon, frog, bear, crane and the wolf all reappearing to the fore. This book fits perfectly well as it complements the feature film version of 1995. The concept art of the book show cases the actors that acted in the popular screened movie. The writer is Kyle Higgins and the art is done by Jonas Scharf, having designed this 27 page book that has been released on 22 November 2017.
From what is confirmed by the short summary of the book is that Zordon has departed beyond time and space to find the original Rangers. He has left Alpha five behind at HQ to explain his disappearance to the present team led by Grace (Red). As with other television series and books, there is likely to be a team up between the rangers. However this is currently speculation as the actual plot of the book isn’t confirmed.
One of the villains seen on the cover does resemble Rita Repulsa, though her staff and wardrobe is definitely different from her previous appearances. The comic does have a lot of surprises awaiting the readers. And to spice up the things, there may also be an introduction of an all new Ranger!

ONE Entertainment today announced a deal with Playtrex, a leading developer of next-gen social casino games, and Hero Digital Entertainment, a leading mobile games publisher, for client and former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather as the presenter of their popular mobile game, Wild Poker.
“As soon as I saw Wild Poker, I knew I wanted to become a part of it,” said Mayweather. “I’m constantly asked to put my name on stuff, but Wild Poker is different than any game I’ve ever seen. Its poker, but it goes to the next level. There’s a whole new level of strategy with the power ups. Its a cutting edge game and like everything I put my name on. Wild Poker is the best ever.”
Wild Poker is a social casino adventure game that offers Texas Hold’em Poker with a unique twist. On top of the regular card game, Wild Poker adds elements of strategy and adventure such as real-time decision-making, power-ups, journey, character development and more to increase the fun and overall exhilaration factor.
Players must embrace the spirit of their favourite animal characters and strategically deploy special skills, such as the shark’s sharp sense of smell to detect another player’s fear or the giraffe’s elongated neck to peer over another player’s shoulder. As players advance in the game, they level up and unlock new characters with different abilities and go on a journey that no traditional casino-style game can offer.

Now it’s the turn of Pixar co-founder and Disney chief creative officer John Lasseter to lose his halo. The animation legend has apparently taken a leave of absence from the company following alleged misconduct and missteps. The leave is expected to be for six months.
A number of reports appearing in the US media have Pixar employees over the years alleging that Lasseter hugged them or kissed them wantonly. In fact, many employees were petrified to come out in the open and talk about their sordid experiences with the twice Oscar winner wherein he intruded on their personal spaces or commented on their bodies. Many stated that they had got used to his moves and even found ways to avoid. Some partners, over the years, chose to discontinue working with the studio, according to media reports.
John Lasseter
In a memo to his company staff, Lasseter stated: “I’ve recently had a number of difficult conversations that have been very painful for me. It’s never easy to face your missteps, but it’s the only way to learn from them. I have always wanted our animation studios to be places where creators can explore their vision with the support and collaboration of other gifted animators and storytellers. This kind of creative culture takes constant vigilance to maintain. It’s built on trust and respect, and it becomes fragile if any members of the team don’t feel valued. As a leader, it’s my responsibility to ensure that doesn’t happen; and I now believe I have been falling short in this regard.”
Disney’s response to the media on the allegations and Lasseter’s sabbatical read as follows: “We are committed to maintaining an environment in which all employees are respected and empowered to do their best work. We appreciate John’s candor and sincere apology and fully support his sabbatical.”
The last few months have seen a spate of senior executives and talents in Hollywood fall from grace following allegations that they abused their positions and made sexual advances or indulged in questionable behavior. Among these were: Harvey Weinstein, Amazon’s Roy Price, actor Kevin Spacey, and director James Toback. Now the name of Lasseter has been added to the list of alleged sexual offenders.
Surely, the characters Walt Disney Animation or Pixar – whether Woody from Toy Story or Moana from the Disney hit Moana – created must be cringing and holding their heads in shame.

Those inhabiting in the most chilling, polar regions of the planet, beware! There’s an inconspicuous group of monstrous yetis lurking somewhere in the heavily snowclad mountains.
Warner Bros. Pictures today launched the official teaser of its upcoming animation flick Smallfoot, a story about a hideous-yet-adorable yeti called Migo, who believes in the existence of humans.
Referring to the same as “smallfoot”, Migo (voiced by Channing Tatum) is ready to go hell for leather in his pursuit of exploring the existence of sentient beings after an awkward encounter with a mountaineer. In the trailer, he could be seen convincing a flurry of yetis about his confrontation with a human being, subtly explaining his intimidating appearance before his counterpart flashes a boot that Migo snatched from the man he accidentally bumped into.
Also featuring the voices of Zendaya (Spiderman: Homecoming), James Corde, LeBron James, Gine Rodriguez, Danny DeVito and Yara Shahidi, Smallfoot chronicles Migo’s adventures of finding and subsequently being convinced that humans do exist.
A Warner Animation Group production, Smallfoot is written and directed by Karey Kirkpatrick, and is slated for 28 September 2018 release.
