9 Quarter Circle

Sandwiched between the borders of West Yellowstone and Big Sky, the 9 Quarter Circle Ranch is a rustic collection of log cabins and stables cradled in a valley of the Rocky Mountains. It’s here one finds Kameron Kelsey, the third-generation steward of the 9QC. The Kelsey family pride themselves on their adherence to tradition, as the ranch exists in something of a time warp, its practices mostly unchanged over the past 70 years. Due to the high elevation of the ranch, weather during the winter months is exceptionally perilous. Every fall, the ranch’s horses are taken down to a lower elevation pasture to live out the cold months in more favorable conditions. Each June, come rain or shine, the Kelseys, along with a group of a dozen or so wranglers, family, and friends, come together to push the herd 20 plus miles back up to the ranch, in a near sacred ritual they dub “The Round Up”. Of all the 9QC practices, this one is perhaps the most antiquated, and is the one the Kelsey family are most proud to preserve. It’s an exhaustive three-day marathon, one that takes them across a variety of terrain. Would it be simpler to gather the animals and truck them up to the ranch? Absolutely, but this isn’t about being easy. It’s about holding onto tradition. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Directed by: Kristopher Rey-Talley Produced by: Rad Roubeni, Kristopher Rey-Talley & Phil Pinto Executive Produced by: Jinhee Chu, Rad Roubeni Photography by: Ryan Dickie, Sam Wootton, Josh Goleman, Kristopher Rey-Talley Edited by: Alex Camilleri, Kristopher Rey-Talley, Ed Yonaitis Color by: Mike Howell Sound Design by: Greg Tobler, Colin Alexander Aerial Photography by: Brendan Murphy

It Is My Fault

This is an intense audio-visual animation that has the potential to trigger seizures for those with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised. After the compression of the spiritual world by the force of regulation, there will follow a series of emotions such as introspection, violence, self-destruction, and untangling. This work utilizes the own approach of the digital medium itself to deconstruct, to form the subliminal synesthesia visually and to create a fictional experience for the mind. 精神世界在面对强制规则化的重压后,爆发的一系列有关反思、暴力、自毁,排解的情绪。作品利用数字媒介自身的解构方式,形成潜意识的视觉通感,创造虚构的情感体验。 Director: Liu Sha Original Music: Ma Yao Sound Design: Zhai Xiaofei 2016 “It Is My Fault” is this week’s Staff Pick Premiere! The Best Camera Bags – Billingham

Here I show two Billingham Camera Bags: 1) A bag that’s about 10 or fifteen years old and 2) a very rare bag that was made for the original Banana Republic when it was run by the founders Mel and Patricia Ziegler. It dates from about 1985 and features sewn in padded dividers and snap closures instead of velcro. In fact Billingham made bags in the mid-80s for various retailers. These bags have quite a following and there’s an active flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1459808@N20/

M Billingham & Co was formed in 1973 by its present owners and is still a family business. We employ skilled people, some of whom have been with us for many years. Our first factory was opened in 1977 in Old Hill, just a short distance from our present premises in Brierley Hill.

You will have gathered that the area is rather hilly, it is also the centre of many varied skills. A visit to our local Black Country Museum is a must if you visit the area. Everything from bricks and horseshoes, to sections of Concorde have been manufactured in the locality. The area has been the Company home for over a quarter of a century

Conceived, designed and made in the United Kingdom, Billingham bags reflect an English preoccupation with excellence and attention to detail.

The company’s transition from a manufacturer of fishing bags to one of camera bags came about in 1978 when Martin Billingham, a keen photographer himself, discovered that the fishing bags he made were being used by New York photographers. So popular were the first models that, within a year, almost all production had switched to camera bags. more: http://www.billingham.co.uk/pages/about.php

Other camera bag option: Domke F-2 (many are made in the USA)

INTRA – From a Black hole to the Big-bang

1080p & Headphones recommended. — We don’t know yet what is inside a black hole, we know it is a singularity, a point where every rules of physics collapse. One of the possibilities is called “The White Hole Theory”, a sort of exit from the black hole, a point where everything is born, including space and time. Some compare it to the Big Bang. INTRA tells the visual story of this theory, a journey from the black to the white hole, a cosmic tale of death and birth… As a tribute to Nolan’s Interstellar, this second short after NOVAE go deeper into our conception of cosmos, interpreting the unknown to propose a vision of the most extreme celestial object of our Universe… — Directed by Thomas Vanz Co-directed with Nano Lab Piano by Julien Marchal Violon/Mix by Jonathan Fitas Programmer Pim Schreurs See more : Thomas Vanz’s website : thomasvanz.com Facebook : Thomas Vanz Instagram : @thomas_vanz Inquiries : thomasvanz404@gmail.com Nano Lab Vimeo : vimeo.com/nanolab Jonathan Fitas’s website : http://www.jonathanfitas.com/ Julien Marchal Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/julienmarchalmusic/ Pim’s simulation : https://sirxemic.github.io/Interstellar/
