Forms I

Forms is a new collaborative series commissioned by Mount Audio and presented in partnership with FormFiftyFive. The ongoing project sees Mount team up with leading visual artists each month in creating unique audiovisual works. The first instalment showcases the collective talents of set designer Owen Gildersleeve and photographer Stephen Lenthall. Following the success of their recent ‘Shadow Spaces’ series, the duo saw the perfect opportunity to develop their striking, still imagery into a short experimental film. Forms I explores the relationship between space, form, light and it’s natural counterpart, shadow. Set within the walls of minimalist paper spaces, the duo introduced subtle movements and additional light sweeps to highlight intricate architectural details. You can find out more about the project below. https://formfiftyfive.com/features/forms-i/ Directed by Owen Gildersleeve & Stephen Lenthall Director of Photography – Stephen Lenthall Set Design – Owen Gildersleeve Post Production – Peter Mellor at Peepshow Collective Set Design Assistants – Adam Williams & Laura Parker Strings Performed by Mallory Hamm Composition & Sound Design – Mount

Nintendo Switch CLEAR EDITION! – DIY Transparent Switch

Its time to make the Nintendo Switch CLEAR!!
Get the CLEAR housing HERE: http://amzn.to/2kf0cyN
Let me know if that link stops working or if they are sold out.
T-SHIRTS ARE HERE: https://jerryrigeverything.com/product/moh-is-my-bro/

Turning the Nintendo Switch housing transparent is quite a project, but it is possible to turn the body into clear plastic. One screw at a time. Its nice being able to look inside the switch and see the technology at work.

Do you think Nintendo should start making their consoles clear again like they did with the older gameboy colors? Would you do this project to your Nintendo Switch?

NY VFXWAALA share Ranveer Singh’s first look in the upcoming ‘Padmavati’

For all the Ranveer Singh fans anxiously waiting to catch a glimpse of the star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming magnum opus Padmavati, behold! That day has finally come.

NY VFXWAALA’s Prasad Sutar has shared the first look of Singh as the much-maligned Alauddin Khilji, and mind you, the Befikre star sports a badassery that’s hardly seen of him before.

Rolling in cinemas on 1 December, the razzmatazz surrounding the period drama is hard to ignore. And now with Ranveer’s crack at hogging the promo poster, the mania is all set to go up by a notch or two.

If Bajirao Mastani is seen as a yardstick, one can naturally expect similar, gripping visual effects in this one too, for both aren’t just based on historical events, but crafted on a grandiose scale by peerless Bhansali. And NY VFXWAALA are to be credited for the VFX of Padmavati.

Co-produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Padmavati also stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini and Shahid Kapoor as Mahavar Ratan Singh.

KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival announces full program

The program of KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival is now live. From 17 to 22 October, KLIK will celebrate its tenth anniversary edition at EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.

The extensive program includes feature films and compilations of animated short films from all over the world, premieres, talks, workshops, master classes and an electrifying birthday party. On 30 October, KLIK will present a special program for kids, including animated shorts and fun hands-on creative activities.

Program Highlights

From left: ‘Star vs. the Forces of Evil’ and ‘Loving Vincent’

Highlights this year include the avant-premiere of Loving Vincent, the world’s first ever fully painted feature film, Wrinkles, a heartwarming Spanish feature film about overlooked seniors locked away in a retirement home, and Tehran Taboo, a film about young people struggling to survive and express their sexuality in modern day Iran.

Additionally, Disney hit series Star vs. the Forces of Evil creator and executive producer Daron Nefcy and Loving Vincent directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman are among the stars in animation who will talk about their work during the Artists in Focus program. Find the complete program here and the time schedule here.

Festival Trailer

The trailer for this year’s festival is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The commissioned work, created by KLOMP! Animation, is an homage to shows and films that many grew up with, from Steamboat Willie to Looney Tunes, Pokémon, Transformers, The Lion King, The Powerpuff Girls and plenty of other classics.

Never Grow Up

The trailer that is shown before every screening is created in honour of this year’s theme: Never Grow Up. The festival highlights animation that challenges the expectations that come with certain ages and life stages. What does it mean to be grown up? What if you refuse to act your age?

KLIK Awards

The festival has received over 1,900 films from over 80 countries this year. After watching each of them, KLIK has narrowed down the field to create 16 carefully curated compilations of short films for its Catch of the Year program. Each of the selected films is running to win one of the following KLIK Awards:

  • Best Animated Short
  • Best Animated Student Short, powered by Cartoon Network
  • Best Commissioned Animation
  • Best Voices in a Commissioned Animation, powered by voicebooking.com

Indie Comix Fest 2017 marks its debut edition with resounding success

Comix India-backed Indie Comix Fest debuted with its maiden edition on 2 October 2017 in Colaba’s Y.W.C.A and suffice to say, the event was a resounding success.

Co-organised by The Pulpocracy and WonTolla, the festival was light up with comic writers and illustrators from Mumbai, Delhi, Goa and so on, showcasing their comic strips, illustrations, graphic novels and so much more!

Whilst the festival was the first under its name, the platform provided a great opportunity for the comic industry to network and also communicate with the masses through their work.

Abhijeet Kini of the Angry Maushi series, Fanboys and Superwierdos fame, said “I think this is a good event to be a part as we’re getting to meet a lot of other Indie publishers. The fans also get to check out our comics and understand the market better. It’s a fun outing overall.”

“Since this is the first time this is happening, there really aren’t any expectations, but more the merrier!” he further adds.

Flying in all the way from New Delhi was Lokesh Khodke of Blue Jackal with interesting themes such as “situational comics”, a one-page comic based on a particular situation, real as well as fictional. He says, “We have with us,  a comics based on Hyderabad University’s Rohit Vemula’s suicide. Another comic has a song as a situation, and so on. We also have on display, a project that we are doing with FICCA, which are paintings by the late Inder Bhan Madan, which he did for 60 years but he never published those.”

Upon the experience of the event, Khodke says, “The event is very exciting. Unlike at the Comic Cons where people normally come to sell, this is a kind of community engagement where we can interact with each other. This is a great opportunity for us as well as we not only to get to know more about others, but also share our work with people.”

Mumbai-based Crimzon studios, one of the participants, introduced new series The Anthology, and founder-director Amit Ghadge exulted about the fine start to the Indie Comix Fest. He says, “I’m very happy to see people coming here, meeting people from the industry, know about all the latest happenings, as there aren’t many platforms that do the same. So it’s a good start.”

“I’d be glad to see more such events coming up.”

Comix India founder Bharat Murthy

Comix India founder and Indie Comix Fest co-organiser Bharat Murthy explains the purpose of the event as he says, “It is important that we create a culture of reading as well as making comics. It has to be at the grassroot level, be localised and focussed on comics. That was the spirit of organising this fest.”

“We also want to express diversity in comics and do it non-profit. This is primarily to support and celebrate comics as well as boost comic culture.”

The Pulpocracy founder-editor Kailash Iyer, who too was a part of the organising members, said, “We just felt to put together an event where the focus is less on the commerce aspect and more on community building. We hope in the next one or two years we will do this more regularly and in a few more cities.”

‘Sketchink’ sketch books by Ahmed Sikander

Holy Cow Entertainment, Bombay Underground, Ahmed Sikander, Nitin Veturkar, Rahul Bhandare, Sumit Kumar, Nachiket Patwardhan, Saumin Patel, Jazyl Homavazir, Raviraj Naik, Madhav Nair, Pradeep Yadav and Vinay Brahmania (drshti) were also among the participants for the event.
