ASICS Custom | Soles In Seconds

True sport performance brand ASICS has co-developed a new, super-
quick technique for creating colorful soles for its footwear at the Tayin
Research & Development Co., Ltd. as part of a new approach towards
footwear production.
The creation process, which uses microwave technology, is both speedy
and sustainable – taking as little as around 15 seconds to create in-
factory with huge potential to pave the way for decreasing environmental
impact.
Currently in testing phase, ASICS estimates that the use of microwave
production technology will reduce energy consumption by almost 90%
compared to ASICS’ standard techniques.
As well as environmental benefits, the technology also has huge
potential to revolutionise the future in-store experience for
consumers. The evolution of this technology could eventually give trainer
enthusiasts and fashion-forward shoppers the option to customize the
colour of the midsole and upper on the spot in-store. ASICS plans to
introduce this technology to select footwear ranges in the future.

THE LOCAL: The Master Carver

In this pilot film, we follow Master carver and indigenous Alaskan artist Wayne Price as he creates fine art in the traditional style of the Tlingit people. Wayne’s artistic creations cover a broad range of design and artifacts, including totem poles, dugout canoes, masks, paddles, clan hats and jewelry. Wayne works with local youth to pass on the craft and culture of the Tlingit people. Wayne takes us on a journey as he builds an adze, a traditional Tlingit wood-carving tool used by his ancestors for thousands of years. The Local is a Royal Caribbean original series, celebrating people from around the world, their unique passions and their culture. During the Farnborough aeronautical show, a Mirage 2000 disappears in the middle of a demonstration. The French military sends Captains Antoine Marchelli and Sébastien Vallois out on patrol over the North Sea, towards the zone where the Mirage disappeared off the radar screens. The pilots discover the plane concealed by an Airbus A340. The Mirage begins to lock into combat position. At the same time, Marchelli and Vallois receive the order to give up the chase without further delay. But it’s too late, the Mirage is about to shoot down Vallois; Marchelli shoots it down to protect his crew member. This incident is the starting point of an enormous set-up aimed at hijacking a French fighter plane for terrorist purposes. A set-up whose final act takes place on the 14th of July in the skies above Paris, over the Champs-Elysées, in the presence of the same two pilots, Marchelli and Vallois.

Fidget spinner spinning in space!

A fidget spinner in space! How long does it spin? I’m not sure, but it’s a great way to experiment with Newton’s laws of motion!
Allowing the fidget spinner to float reduces the bearing friction by permitting the rate of the central ring and outer spinner to equalize, and the whole thing spins as a unit.
