BEHIND THE SUN

Last year 3x World champ Mick Fanning took the year away from full time competition to explore the world and experience new places. I was lucky enough to join him on a trip the the Arctic Circle to direct an episode of Red Bull’s “Chasing the Shot” where he surfed through the night under the Northern Lights. Although the days were extremely cold and short with only a few hrs of light, we managed to find great waves and stood in awe of the scenic beauty in every direction. This is my directors cut from that trip and features some of my favorite daytime moments while focusing on the scenic side of our trip. Special thanks to Red Bull for making it happen. Bill Clinton's North Korea Negotiator Has Advice for Trump (HBO)

North Korea’s first successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile came at an odd time.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced the feat Tuesday, just days after South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited Washington, where discussions on how to stop the Hermit Kingdon’s nuclear program were at the top of the agenda.

Neither the United States nor South Korea has a proven strategy. But even if the two countries can agree on a way forward, an even more daunting step may lie ahead: direct negotiations with the North Koreans.

When Ambassador Mitchell Reiss served as leader negotiator during the Clinton administration, he learned just how hard talking to Pyongyang can be. According to him, the U.S. should explore strategies other than diplomacy — like denying the country the money and technology necessary for a nuclear program.

“They often ascribe different meanings to the same word. So you go from concept, to word, to meaning,” he said. “That takes an awfully long time.”

Desktop Metal’s 3D printer makes metal manufacturing less messy

Metal fabrication with traditional processes like injection molding, can be noisy, create welding fumes and exhaust, and require the use of lots of chemicals by workers. Desktop Metal’s new additive manufacturing method uses FDM techniques that are safer and easier to work with.

Feed Me Light had a blast capturing all the horrifying characters you encounter in the world of online dating, as part of a series for TrueView, the dating app you can trust. Online dating changed the game of romance and courtship. Does the person on the other side of the screen really enjoy long sunset walks on the beach, or do they prefer to spend their evenings perched outside your bedroom window? Billy Bad Chat, Six Pack Stu, Two Faced Tony – these characters are too familiar to anyone who has online dated. The client approached us with a set of characters that had been created based on real research on the dangerous individuals you encounter in the pursuit of love.
