Pokémon’s upcoming movie is set to take you on a nostalgic trip

With another summer approaching, Japan would be gearing up for another Pokémon movie. Since its inception in 1996, The Pokémon Company has released a new movie every year. This year, on the 20th anniversary of the celebrated franchise, the makers are back with yet another movie and it is definitely going to take people down the memory lane.

Titled ‘I Choose You’, the feature will take you back to the roots of the show, where the protagonist, Ash Ketchum, begins his journey through the Kanto region with his Poke-buddy, Pikachu.

We are not completely sure how the story for this film would conclude, however, its good news for the young fans of Pokemon, who have not seen the initial episodes. They would finally get to know how Ash and Pikachu did not start their journey on a very pleasant note. The trailer shows how he refuses to go into the Pokeball and listens to anything that his trainer, Ash, says. However, their bond is strengthened when Ash saves Pikachu from a band of enraged Spearows, putting himself in danger. Even Ho-Oh makes a rather mystic cameo in the trailer.

The teaser for the film was released last month and the animation looks much more polished than the original one, so the one’s who are watching it for the first time would have a great time and the ones who are looking to refresh their memories would not be disappointed as well.

The movie will be released in Japan in on 15 July. No dates of when the movie would be released in other regions have been declared yet.

‘Overwatch’ reveals its newest character: Orisa

After almost two weeks of teases and hints, Blizzard Entertainment has finally revealed their newest hero to join the ranks of their multiplayer-shooter, Overwatch. The newest hero would be the 24th character and would be joining the roster of tanks in the game.

Titled Orisa, the hero is a high-tech robot created by the fictional, child prodigy, Efi Oladele. According to the story told in Overwatch’s Universe, Efi hails from Numbani, a city known for its technological prowess and peaceful ambiance. The city which housed the powerful Doomfist’s gauntlet shown in the initial cinematic trailer of the game has recently been seen under attack from someone who stole the artifact and used it to thrash the defensive OR15 robots placed for Numbani’s airport’s security.

According to the origin story, Efi saw the destruction unfold and took it upon herself to make something to protect her city. You can check her origin story here:

In more mechanical terms, the new hero would play the role of what the developers termed as an ‘anchor tank’, like Reinhardt. The developers intended to make a hero around which team compositions would be build and not high mobility tanks like Winston or D.Va.

Orisa’s primary weapon is fusion driver which shoots long range projectile bullets, but slows her movement speed when she is firing, while her alternate fire sends out a shockwave which slows enemies and pulls them close on detonation. Apart from that she has a skill called ‘fortify’ which gives her bonus protections and immunity for any movement impairing effects and her other ability can create a barrier, about half the size of Winston’s barrier. Her ultimate ability is called ‘Supercharger’ which places a device on the ground and amplifies the damage that all her allies in the line of sight inflict on the enemies. How she plays out in the game would be a thing to see. The hero is already available in the game’s PTR (Public Test Realm).

In other Overwatch news, the origin story of Orisa clearly mentions Doomfist and hence it would be safe to say that we will get to see him/her as a playable character in the game in future. The recently added buffs to Bastion are being pulled down a bit as the developer team themselves think that he was feeling a little overpowered.

Disney XD reveals the first look of ‘DuckTales'; series to premiere this summer

With the upcoming Pokemon movie set to take us on a trip down memory lane, it seems we are in for another treat!

It has been already known that Disney was looking forward to release a new season of the celebrated animated series, ‘DuckTales’. Now, the first trailer for the upcoming season of the series has been launched and we got a glimpse of the adventures of Uncle Scrooge and his nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie.

The trailer shows how excited the little trio is to meet their Uncle Scoorge. It also focuses on the fact that how the trio of little ducks think that they have a ‘normal, boring family’, but their perception changes very soon. As they embark on their adventurous journey they realise the fact that their ‘family is awesome’.

The bazillionaire, Scoorge McDuck can still be seen in his ultra-ambitious behaviour. He even goes on to say, “I made my name being tougher than the toughies…and smarter than the smarties.”

The animation style has changed quite a bit but from the looks of it, the essence of the show will remain the same. We also got to hear a clip of the famous title track for the show which brought back a lot of memories.

This upcoming version of DuckTales will star Devid Tennant as the voice of Scoorge McDuck, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey and Louie respectively and Beck Bennett in the role of Launchpad McQuack.

DuckTales premiers on Disney XD this summer and reportedly, the show is getting a second season order before the first season even premieres.

Audible Voices challenge during Oscars

Audible’s advertising during television coverage of the 89th Academy Awards, “Audible Voices”, features actors reading quotes from novels exploring social responsibility and times of great challenge. The Audible Voices campaign is presented as a tribute to the power of great actors whose voices bring audiobooks to life. The choice of timeless and timely excerpts is a reminder to the American people and their government that policy choices can make or break a nation’s character. TV commercials aired before, during and after the Oscars featured Zachary Quinto reading from George Orwell’s 1984, Claire Danes reading Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables, Alan Cumming reading from JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and Mike Colter reading Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Online commercials round out the campaign, with Jim Dale reading from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, James Chen reading from Sun Zu’s The Art of War, Sanjiv Jhaveri reading from Yann Martel’s The Life of Pi, Victor Bevine reading from Isaac Asimov’s Pebble in the Sky, Allyson Johnson reading from Edith Wharton’s The House of Mirth, Kevin Free reading from Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven, and Lameece Issaq reading from Wuthering Heights.

Zachary Quinto reads George Orwell 1984 in Audible Voices campaign

Zachary Quinto (Spock in Star Trek) reads an excerpt from George Orwell’s 1949 novel “1984”: “If he were allowed contact with foreigners, he would discover that they are creatures similar to himself and that most of what he had been told about them is lies. The sealed world in which he lives would be broken, and the fear, hatred and self-righteousness on which his morale depends, might evaporate.”

Claire Danes reads from Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel “Les Miserables”: “Society is to blame for not providing free public education, and society will answer for the obscurity it produces. If the soul is left in darkness, sins will be committed. The guilty party is not he who has sinned but he who create the darkness in the first place.”

Alan Cumming recounts from “The Fellowship of the Ring” the words of Haldir: “The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places, but still there is much that is fair and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”

Mike Colter (Luke Cage) recites a passage from “To Kill a Mockingbird” about courage, the words of Atticus. “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.”

Jim Dale reads from JK Rowling’s 1997 novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the words of Albus Dumbledore: “As much money and life as you could want! The two things most human beings would choose above all. The trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things that are worst for them.”

James Chen reads from Sun Zu’s 5th century BCE military treatise The Art of War: “There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.”

Sanjiv Jhaveri reads from Yann Martel’s 2001 novel The Life of Pi: “If there’s only one nation in the sky, shouldn’t all passports be valid for it?”

Allyson Johnson reads from Edith Wharton’s 1905 novel The House of Mirth, the words of Selden: “Why do we call all our generous ideas illusions, and the mean ones truths?”

Victor Bevine reads from Isaac Asimov’s 1950 novel Pebble in the Sky: “It was obvious that bigotry was never a one-way operation, that hatred bred hatred!”

Kevin Free reads from Edgar Allan Poe’s 1847 narrative poem The Raven: “Actually, I do have doubts, all the time. Any thinking person does.”

Lameece Issaq reads from Emily Bronte’s 1847 novel Wuthering Heights the words of Catherine: “I’ll be as dirty as I please, and I like to be dirty, and I will be dirty!”
