Disney Infinity’s journey comes to an end as company releases comprehensive schedule for its closure
Posted in: AnimationIt was already a known fact that Disney was on the verge of shutting down its toys-to-life video game, Disney Infinity after they shut down Avalanche Studios. Now, the company is set to shut down its online servers. The whole process would be carried over the next eight months.
Disney has already put a stop to in-game purchases over the PC version of Disney Infinity 2.0 and the Android, Apple TV and iOS versions of the game. However, Disney has stated that the console version of the game would still work normally excluding community content features and online multiplayer services.
After 30 September, the PC, iOS and Android versions of the game will no longer be playable and on the same date, the community team will stop accepting and approving new content like toy box creations, although Apple TV Windows 8 or 10 players will still be able to download the existing boxes till 3 March. Apple TV players will still be able to access the game, but it would be removed from the actual Apple Store, while Disney Infinity 2.0and 3.0 will remain available on Steam, except the community feature.
Ingame purchases will disappear from Windows 8 and 10 by 3 January and the big farewell comes on 3 March, 2017 when the Apple TV or Windows versions of the game would be disabled, including any online instalments.
The console versions of the game would still be playable indefinitely, although without any online or community features.
Disney Infinity had once turned the gaming business profitable for the company single-handedly and became immensely popular among Disney fans, but as they say, “All good things must come to an end”.

Moong Labs, a Noida based developer and publisher of mobile games has entered into partnership with Nazara to develop a 4D Cricket Game on Virat Kohli, the current Indian Test captain, and one of the top cricketers in the world. The game will be based on the realistic simulation cricket game engine developed by Moong Labs.
Commenting on the new partnership, Moong Labs, head, Samit Babbar said, “There’s no cricketer as passionate as Virat in the cricket world today, and to emulate his journey to the top through challenging real life scenarios of his careers in a game is going to excite all the fans of Virat. The game will provide ultra-realistic experience of playing cricket with life-like avatar of Virat Kohli.”
The game being developed will be a character centric and immersive 4D cricket game where the players will get to relive Virat Kohli’s evolution from a rookie batsman to the demi-god he is at present, delivered via ultra-high definition gameplay, unique challenges and scenarios.
According to Nazara Games, CEO, Manish Agarwal, “We at Nazara are confident that this partnership with the talented team at Moong Labs will deliver a great real cricket simulation game to millions of Virat’s fans wherein fans can play as Virat and enjoy his cricketing journey across seasons.”
Speaking to Animationxpress’ Krishanu Ghosal, Babbar asserted, “We entered this partnership with Nazara about two months ago. We have already developed a 3D gaming engine, which is being used in a game published under Nazara called Epic Cricket, then we had a discussion with Nazara and the idea came up that maybe we should get into a partnership and build something which is unique.”
However, with a large number of cricket games out there in the market, how can this new game stick out and appeal to a user?
“An ultra realistic experience of playing cricket, where you will be playing with a lifelike avatar of Virat Kohli and the whole game is on the biopic of Virat and his journey through his cricket career.”
Although the game does not adhere to a story mode, it is more like an experience as the players put themselves in situations that Virat has gone through in his career, according to Babbar.
But how exactly are the makers justifying the game as ‘4D’?
“You know we have the typical 3D games, with third dimensional views, the cameras and everything else. The additional bit of experience that we have added here is force. So, as you are playing the game and hit shots, you will get a feedback from the device in terms of vibration or other modes. These will notify you about the quality of the shot, if it was good or you miss timed it and so on and that we believe will make the game more immersive.”
The gameplay has apparently been built with a wide audience in mind, as the creators thought the following that Virat carries is not limited to hardcore cricket fans, but to the general audience who love cricket.
Building the concept around Virat Kohli and bringing it to life took 10 weeks of effort for Noida based Moong Labs. The game will be released over Android and iOS devices.

This is the 21st Guinness World Record I have set, this time for the longest whip ever cracked. The whip is 238 feet 3 inches, made mostly from manila rope.
I also set this record back in 2006 at 216 ft.
Nathan Griggs in Australia has a whip that’s around 260 feet, but he hasn’t used his whip to set an official record yet, so I figured I’d sneak this one into the record books before he makes an official attempt.
