Animation used in an unique campaign to create awareness about endangered animals in India for World Environment Day

Baidu’s India office is launching a new social campaign named “The Last Conversation” to raise awareness of the wildlife depletion on World Environment Day (WED) 2016 in the form of a final conversation with different endangered animals.

Baidu World environment dayThe campaign in animation shorts will feature Baidu’s mascot, the “DU bear”, having the final conversation through a series of posts on Facebook and Twitter to urge people to avoid products that cause harm to wildlife.

According to a 2014 report issued by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), India is home to 6.5 per cent of the world’s total wildlife species, which includes 7.6 per cent of all mammals and 12.6 per cent of all bird species. Out of these, 15 species of birds, 12 species of mammals and 18 species of reptiles and amphibians in India are recognised as critically endangered.

Baidu India will hold its campaign on Twitter and Facebook from 1 to 5 June, 2016, with the hash tag #TheLastConversation. The animals featured in the conversations will speak their last words to the DU bear before they are turned into consumer products, in a strong message of the harmful impact of our purchases on wildlife.

Baidu has previously advocated other environmental causes in India and worldwide. Since 2014, Baidu’s android apps ‘DU Battery Saver’ and ‘DU Speed Booster’ have partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) on a yearly basis to raise awareness of Earth Hour, the world’s largest grassroots environmental movement organised by WWF.

The theme of World Environment Day this year is illegal trade in wildlife, with the slogan ‘Go Wild for Life’.

Jack Link’s Jerky Hangry Hacks

Jack Link’s is running “Hangry Hacks”, an advertising campaign in which hungry and angry characters break the safety glass on an emergency reserve stash to recover their sense of perspective. “Gym Beast” features comedy sketch artist Josh Leyva losing his cool at the gym, with cameo appearances by the Hodge Twins. He’s returned to his zen state by breaking into an emergency stash of Jack Link’s conveniently stored within the weights of the machine. “Caddie Hack” has a golfer on the last play of his career rescued from losing everything by his caddie. Golf shouldn’t be played while hangry. This pro golfer’s hangry costs him the championship, but thanks to a hangry hack using his caddie, his hangry transforms back to happy. “Mom Flips Out”, features a typical family vacation long-distance journey. Geo Antoinette, an actress, producer and owner of her own gym, Barbell Brigade in LA, is featured in a “Office Freakout” (Boss has Beef) spot, in which she kicks hangry’s butt when a meeting gets messy. “Teacher Terror” is set in a school classroom in which a supervised exam is just too much to cope with on an empty stomach. “Hack your hangry with Jack Link’s, the protein packed way to feed your wild side.”

The jerky creations and Maker Faire presence will be extended online through a video content series. Fans are able to vote for their favorite Hangry Hack on Jack Link’s social media channels.

Symphony Of Two Minds – 3D Animated Short

How do we choose to mix influences when dealing with a medium as new as CG animation ? From live action independent movies to Japanese anime, CG animation is still a new form of media trying to find its own style, to differentiate itself from traditional cartoon.
This short is a playful attempt at bringing those influences together, from the point of view of the characters themselves. Trough their interrogations, we ask ourselves if there is a different path to the way we treat animation today.

This is a short movie directed by Valere Amirault and done by the people at Mecanique Generale.
