Akira Kurosawa – Composing Movement

Can movement tell a story? Sure, if you’re as gifted as Akira Kurosawa. More than any other filmmaker, he had an innate understanding of movement and how to capture it onscreen. Join me today in studying the master, possibly the greatest composer of motion in film history. For educational purposes only. Django Django – Reflections

The video, directed by Natalia Stuyk and animated by Eva Papamargeriti, is a surreal take on the traditional performance music video, given a new breath of life in a digital CGI world. The band, transformed into other-worldly kinetic sculptures, perform the track in an evolving 3D gallery setting.

The digital incarnations of the band’s performance were created through experimental use of Motion Capture and Face Shift technologies, which enabled Natalia and Eva to morph each band member and their very human movements, into an abstract sculpture of their own design.

Shot at Framestore London, Reflections represents the most experimental and abstract use of motion capture technology the studio have seen to date.

Pandora Unique Connection with Blindfolds

Pandora, a jewellery brand based in Denmark, has attracted worldwide attention with “Unique Connection”, a Danish commercial in which blindfolded children identify their mother. The Mother’s Day commercial has had over 12 million views since its release on April 13. “As a small experiment of women’s uniqueness and the special bond between a mother and child, we met up with 6 wonderful women, and asked them to let us blindfold their most precious loved ones. Their children! The children were guided towards the group of women, and using their senses and intuition asked to try to find the one they believed to be their mother. Anxiety, love and a bit of heartfelt tears filled the room as children from the age of 3-9 tried and succeed in finding the one and only they could call mum! All women are unique in shape, personality and heart, and so is the beautiful connection and precious love we saw this day. Celebrate the woman in your heart.”
