Android Friends Furever

Google is promoting the diversity of devices using the Android operating system with “Friends Forever”, a new addition to the “Be together. Not the same” advertising campaign. In contrast to Apple’s IOS program, Google works with Samsung, HTC, LG and other companies. The 60 second Friends Forever video patches together cute scenes of animals many would consider incompatible playing together. The campaign includes a set of five “Android BFFs” 5 second videos on the Android YouTube channel.

DiegoStocco – Beachwood / Real-Time Multi-Processing Improv

A short improvisation I played with a musical object called “Beachwood”.

Processed in real-time with several sound design techniques: resonator, “Rhythmic Processing” http://gum.co/FFS01, “Convolution Processing” http://gum.co/FFS02 with Impulse Responses from my “Rhythmic Convolutions” set http://gum.co/FFSRC, miked with “Creative Miking Techniques” http://gum.co/FFS03.

Diego Stocco – Improv on a Plate

I was about to cut a chocolate cake and when I moved the plate on the countertop I noticed a very interesting sound.

One side of the plate was free to vibrate because the tiles were not perfectly even, so by applying pressure with one finger and tapping it with another I was able to create some tonal beats. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

The recording setup was very simple, Røde NT5, Apogee ONE, Pro Tools 9.

Gotye and DiegoStocco – Manual Machine aka Manuel Improv

A musical improvisation on the Manual Machine also named “Manuel”, played by Wally/Gotye.
The Manual Machine is an instrument I built when I was filming my new video tutorial called “Creative Miking Techniques” http://bit.ly/DSFFS3

I used contact mics on it, so that it could make “drum machine” kind of sounds out of two pieces of rubber (rubber straps found at the hardware store) and a snare wire attached to a piece of cardboard.

We filmed this video yesterday right after lunch, I hope you’ll enjoy it! : )

If you’d like to find out more about my video tutorial, here’s the link to my website: http://bit.ly/DSFFS3

Diego Stocco – Huge Coffee

Usually I make myself a regular coffee in the morning…but not this time ; ) This is an extra video that I created while I was producing the DTS “Sound Magician” series: http://bit.ly/11ESVVQ For those of you into sound design/technical details, I recorded this with custom built water-proof microphones and two Røde NT6, through API 512c preamps and Apogee Ensemble.
