WWF Race the Tiger Challenge

The World Wide Fund For Nature are setting up a competition between humans and an Amur tiger, raising awareness of the dangers being experienced by the animal in the wild. Participants can visit the Run 4 Tiger “Tiger Challenge” by visiting www.run4tiger.com. Connecting the site with their chosen running app, athletes can go head to head in a time trial with an animal fitted with a GPS tracker near Bol’shaya Soldatka in the east of Russia. Nike+, MapMyRun, Strava and RunKeeper. The tiger runs an average of 20km a day. Entrants can monitor their performance against the big cat and other contestants by following the hashtag #Run4Tiger on Twitter. The project has been created to raise awareness of the precarious situation the Amur tiger faces. There are only 450 of them in existence in the wild today.

Tiger Challenge

Vlad Sitnikov, creative director, Hungry Boys, says: “This is the first time in the world you can compete fairly with a truly professional runner, the Amur tiger, and benchmark yourself against the best. But, if you lose, you need to donate $5 to the WWF save the tiger campaign. Sound like fun? We think so.”

Yury Sochnev, Head of Marketing, WWF Russia, adds: “The decline in the wild tiger population is a global issue. This is a positive and creative way to raise awareness of their plight. It’s a win-win situation. You get to race against this magnificent animal whilst simultaneously generating money to help protect it. It’s time to run for your life. Our tiger is waiting for you.”

MetLife Hong Kong is running “Dream for My Child”, an integrated advertising campaign centred on a tear jerking commercial, “My Dad’s Story”. The ad, filmed in Thailand, features a young girl reading aloud her reflections on her father. She moves from sentimental admiration of the sweetest daddy in the world through to her struggles to come to terms with his dual life. He lies about having a job, having money, not being hungry. It becomes clear that the father is taking a wide range of menial jobs to earn money for his daughter’s education. The final message, “A child’s future is worth every sacrifice”.
