“moDernisT” was created by salvaging the sounds and images lost to compression via the mp3 and mp4 codecs. the audio is comprised of lost mp3 compression material from the song “Tom’s Diner”, famously used as one of the main controls in the listening tests to develop the MP3 encoding algorithm. Here we find the form of the song intact, but the details are just remnants of the original. the video was created by takahiro suzuki in response to the audio track and then run through a similar algorithm after being compressed to mp4. thus, both audio and video are the “ghosts” of their respective compression codecs. version one. http://theGhostInTheMP3.com

Autodesk’s Oscar-winning Supporting Roles

Tue 17th Feb 2015, by Mike Hepburn | Eventcoverage

Our friends at Autodesk and Shotgun Software are understandably proud of their formidable presence at the upcoming Oscars. Not only did they play a supporting role in the creation of all five Best Visual Effects and seven Best Picture Academy Award nominees. The Academy also recognized Autodesk’s Robert Bridson with a Sci-Tech Award for his pioneering work on voxel data structures technology.

In the Best Visual Effects category, all five film nominees – Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy,“Interstellar” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past – used sophisticated technology to help bring these films to audiences worldwide. The phenomenal work contained in these five movies was created by thousands of talented artists working at 25 visual effects studios on four continents with work spanning the production process from previsualization through virtual cinematography, post-production and color grading.

This year’s nominees for Best Animated Feature show off a broad range of animation styles from hand-drawn, to stop-motion to CG. Autodesk software played a role in four of the five Best Animated Feature nominees: Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2,” and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya;”two Best Animated Short contenders: Feast and The Dam Keeper; and seven of the eight movies nominated for Best Picture: American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Selma and The Theory of Everything.”

Movies would be pretty bland without this kind of technology in the hands of amazing artists!

MTS Baby Born for the Internet

MTS India has launched a prequel to the viral hit MTS Internet Baby commercial, “Born for the Internet”. The 2014 commercial showed a newborn baby using a range of devices to instantly connect with the world. In the new MTS Baby commercial, first screened during the India vs Pakistan Cricket World Cup match, a mother, doctor and nurse in a birthing room are stunned when the in utero baby vanishes. In the next heavenly scene a pram rolls up to a man in a white suit. The baby starts to reason with God about the cruelty of sending him into a home that is not setup for WiFi. The baby argues ‘God is toying with his future.’ He exclaims ‘No WiFi! No Go!’ God transforms his appearance to become a salesman for MTS Homespot Instant WiFi, convincing the baby to go through with the birth. The commercial ends with the baby asking his parents for the WiFi password.

The MTS Internet Baby commercial, first launched in February 2014, has had over 25 million views. “This kid is already ahead of the spectrum. He’s the #MTSInternetBaby, born to #ExploitTheWeb with the new superior 3GPLUS™ network.”

The new integrated campaign was launched during the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup on the day of India v/s Pakistan game via a television commercial and is supported via print, radio and digital. A teaser campaign was launched on February 12, 2015 through Twitter.

Amitesh Rao, Director Brand & Media, MTS India, says, “After the phenomenal success of ‘Born for the Internet’ campaign launched last year and looking at overall response we knew that consumers strongly connect with the MTS Internet Baby. So we wanted to continue building on this brand proposition and expand the market place”. Amitesh further added, “As the name suggests, the Homespot Instant WiFi provides plug and play access to multiple internet users simultaneously. This launch marks a strategic shift in focus for MTS from being primarily a dongle driven Data Company to a WiFi solutions provider”.

Speaking about the campaign thought, Sajan RaJ Kurup, Founder and Creative Chairman, Creativeland Asia, said, “In this campaign, The MTS internet baby personifies the ever demanding internet generation that see wifi as a basic necessity just like food and shelter. Creatively we planned it like a prequel to our last years most talked about MTS Baby TVC and set it from a time before he was born.”
