Toonz Academy to hold a free Animation Seminar on 3 July

Toonz Academy, a wing of Technopark-based studio Toonz Animation India, will conduct a free seminar for students and animation aspirants at Marthandam near the state capital on Thursday, 3 July.

The seminar on ‘Careers in Animation and Visual Effects’ will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at VDS Conference Hall, Old Theatre Junction, Marthandam. The seminar will have sessions on the topic ‘Journey of Animation Through the Years’, live demonstration on the evolution of animation and the latest trends in the production process.

“Toonz Animation, being the pioneers in animation industry in India, feels it is our responsibility to ensure that the young students take an informed decision while choosing Animation as their career. Being in this industry for the last 15 years and proven our capabilities in the International and Indian entertainment world, we consider ourselves qualified enough to understand the expectations of the industry from the young artists,” said Toonz Animation India CEO P Jayakumar in a press statement.

The one-day seminar is being conducted as part of Toonz Academy’s initiative to spread awareness among the general public and aspiring students about various stages and techniques of animation production.

“Through several seminars across Kerala and India, we try to create awareness about the career prospects and also tell youngsters what to expect once they complete an animation course,” he added. “Youngsters will be made aware that animation has become indispensable not just in television and film world but in almost all fields.”

Vinod A S, vice-president, Toonz Academy, will take the participants through a journey on the growth and prospects of animation. C Ajith Kumar, the Thiruvananthapuram Centre head, will also be present at the seminar, which promises to have interactive sessions followed with a Q & A round for the participants.

Despite the convincingly analogue look, the bulk of the project was produced digitally. It wasn’t all ones and zeroes, though.

“A lot of the design we did by hand. Newsprint, white crayon on black cardstock. We tried a lot of things!” explains Merc.
