“En Route” – A Short Film by Colin Levy

Hey everyone, we’re proud to finally be able to post our short film “En Route” online.

“En Route” is a student short film (directed by Colin Levy) and contains a pretty significant amount of vfx work which was created by a team of 16 student artists at Savannah College of Art & Design. Although it was already completed about a year ago and most of us have moved on working in the industry by now we finally felt like we should share it :).
CG was done in Maya & Houdini and most comp in Nuke. A tiny bit in Blender and After Effects. PFTrack for tracking and FCP for editing.

Feel free to critique, but keep in mind we did this work over a year ago so obviously we can see the flaws now :).

Thanks for watching!

Exclude certain cards from depth channel

I have an animated camera flying backwards over a city, then backwards through a window. Now, the z value of the card I used for the window (I used a noise node to create dusty glass) logically covers the city cards and cubes behind, therefor destroying my zblur. Is there a way to exclude only the window card from the depth channel without having to render out two scenes, one for depth with the card disabled and one with the card turned on? maybe it’s a silly question, but on the other hand I could have overlooked one function
