(lots of sequences) Color correction workflow question

Hello Friends,

I shot some 120 HD sequences using my DSLR camera (Canon 550D) and all need color correction as the white balance was not set. Some sequences are indoors and some of them are outdoors and some are under tree shades.

Am looking for recommendations which can help me in a efficient workflow.

Here are my current thoughts, kindly comment.
1. Convert all sequences to Edit friendly format (I use Avid DNxHD codec)
2. Edit them in Premiere as per the need
3. Export to AE and Color Correct the “edited” footage
(this edit sequence could be a mixture of Indoor and outdoor shots also).

I am not sure if this is the right way or is it better to color correct the original and then convert to Edit formats and then proceed.

Basically I am confused

Tx,
Haf

PS: Took the liberty of calling them as Sequences, as the DSLR creates a separate MOV file for each record press.

Maya and nuke?

Can nuke do the same things as maya what is the difference?

Kari Kimmel music video “Trouble”

Greetings,

Just wanted to share the new Kari Kimmel music video “Trouble” that just went live on the Oxygen Channel’s website. It was just a small group of us (two people) who put the whole thing together using PS, AE, and FCP. It was a lot of fun to make, and hopefully you’ll have just as much fun watching it! Enjoy!

Framecycler and exr viewing?

Hi,

I am wondering what is the proper setting of Framecycler for viewing EXRs? The exr sequence I rendered out of Nuke looked correct/normal in the Nuke viewer, but significantly darker when Alt-F viewed in Framecycler.

I tried to play with the Look-Up table setting of the Framecycler, but none of the setting gives me a proper standard sRGB LUT for the exr sequence.

Thanks,
Jason

Red footage help

I am still having trouble figuring out a colorspace for this red footage. Attached is the info I get from the read node which is reading .r3d files.

I have tried exporting the the .r3d files as exrs 16 bit and 32 bit. Still no combination of the file’s colorspace and workspace profile gives me good results.

Any help is appreciated
