Best Animation Program for Vehicles

Hi,

I’m starting to learn composting and visual effects and wanted to learn how to add 3D footage to 2D as well. For now, the only thing that I would be intrested in animating is jets, vehicles and maybe people. The two programs I’m looking at is C4D and Maya. I would use PFTrack for motion tracking and then one of the two programs mentioned. I realize the price differnce, but without the price in mind, which is the best one for my needs? (I’m on a mac)

Thanks,
Zevie

Beauty in the Breakdown.

Things are a bit busted at the moment sorry…

My Google listings seem to have been hijacked by spammers, but more importantly the RSS feed has died.

For now try using this feed, or follow me on Twitter.

Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon..

Sorry!

DiskCache or not..that’s the question

Hi All,
As an AE user, I got used to having a limited ram cache, yet I was GUARANTEED to have smooth play back for whatever did cached up.

For some reason, Nuke can’t make ups it mind to Cache or not.
For example,
I have a 262 frame timeline. I watched it slowly go thru all 262 frames. Then it went around again, and again. When I stoped it and then hit play, it cached up for the 1st 100 frames. I then watched it creep along to reach the end 262 frames. When it went around(again), the cached 100 frames were gone, and it was caching all over again! What gives?

I thought disk cache is like "geometry cache" in MAYA. Once you write it to disk, it plays perfectly.

Also, I used FLIPBOOK, and it seems to do the same thing. It slowly creeped along, then when it did cached up, it statred to run out of ram.
So, I am sooo confused.
And what’s this RAID drives? Would this help me?
Thanks,
Lou

Is learning Flame a good idea?

Hi newbie here, I am currently learning Nuke. I have been doing research , just looking at a lot of vfx shops worldwide and it seems that Flame artists are in demand. I know Flame is used mostly for commercial work, cuz of its speed and such. What is the learning curve like? So far learning Nuke is not as bad as I expected and I still have to learn more. This is just an opinion for you all. Is it worth learning? Or should I just stick to learning Nuke and not worry about learning Flame?

Thanks
