IT / Systems Administrator engineer for a fast growing high-level 3D conversion facility. If you are a deadline driven, take charge professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment, developing leading edge technology with A-List Compositors and creating a world-class conversion studio from the ground up then this is the position for you. Must have a minimum of 8 -10 years of technical industry experience working in a similar capacity in a studio environment (Animation, VFX, Games).

Responsibilities:

  • The IT / Sys Administrator person will help design, develop and implement hardware and software tools and programs to achieve desired functionality for the organization’s production and conversion stages.
  • Develop specifications for systems functionality such as data storage and transfer or 3D image processing for use with multiple software tools: Silhouette, Mocha, Nuke, After Effects, Deadline, Cinesync, Photoshop, Frame cycler, Final Cut Pro, among others.
  • Expand utilities for Systems Administrators and users of the system to manage system load, organize systems processes via creation of clean directory structures, standard pipeline conventions and achieve desired visual effects.
  • Anticipates and effectively communicates to prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur
  • Creation of engineering standards and procedures for the IT department

Requirements:

  • Proficient in installation and maintenance of Linux workstations, server room, networking, etc
  • Linux experience in an IT capacity a must.
  • Mentor creative thinking, collaboration and teamwork
  • Ability to generate new and innovative ideas
  • Proficient in multiple programming and scripting languages: Python, TCL, C/C++, PHP, AppleScript, Linux, Perl, Ruby, MEL
  • Experience constructing and maintaining a medium to large facility machine room and I/O: render farm (Windows and Linux based), patch panel creation/installation, installation and removal of rental blades, multiple delivery formats (D1, D5, Fire wire, Aspera, etc…)
  • Anticipates and effectively communicates to prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur.
  • Able to develop and enhance any aspect of the production and editing systems (Final cut, Frame cycler, etc)
  • Artist support: oversee deployment of workstations with standardized software, etc. (creation of a standard disk image), calibration of monitors, etc
  • Oversee department asset management and maintain equipment documentation
  • Creation of engineering standards and procedures for the IT department
