VFX403 [WIP] – mhafeez_13666

And you thought I am gonna Compete with high techs here? Naaaah :-). Someone has to come last :p

Though I am not from the VFX industry, I would like to participate and learn something with your expert help and advice.

My idea is to make something like the Harry Potter movie – Goblet of Fire. The starting scene showing the Quidditch World cup. :). The stadium structure was cylindrical in the movie but I plan to make it a Spherical stadium with people all over :). (I already see negative points for inspiration !!)

Will use AE, Nuke and Maya – Beginners knowledge.

Long live vfxtalk gurus.

Any thoughts will be appreciated now and later.

Single Channel EXR’s

I have some single channel EXR’s. Nuke treats them as Alpha-only, when in reality they are really "Luminance." It’s not a big problem to shuffle things where I need them, but I’m wondering if there is some way to convince Nuke that they should be visible.

When I first load them in, Nuke just shows them as black, and I always panic for a second before I remember that I need to check the alpha for my image. It’s kind of annoying.

It’s not a big deal, but if there is a convenient way to do it, I’d love to know.

Attaching Image Plane/Projector to Boujou Camera path?

ok so i have this marker question posted in this forum:

http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/paint-o…on-t27117.html

one suggestion was to:

– 3d track the camera
– put a plane in 3d space where the table would be and project the footage onto it
– create a 2nd camera (your new rendercam) and put it over the table looking 90 degree down. this render will give you the table without movement, only the reflection on the table changes.

now i have a pretty good track for this footage, but when i import the track to fusion, whatever i put as an image, the image plane/projector doesn’t follow the camera movement. i tried connecting paths to the cameras translation and rotation, but that didn’t seem to work.

So my main question for this is, how do I make a 180 degree pan track work in fusion?

IT Support

Sauce Post is a Wellington based post and production company with offices in Auckland, Wellington and Los Angeles. We provide services for clients world wide in the areas of TV commercials, TV programming and feature film visual effects work.

This exciting opportunity has opened up in our Wellington office for a full time video engineer/IT expert to join our team. Our longstanding inhouse technical "guru" is moving on, and we require a intermediate IT Support person to pick up the IT Support element of their business.

The environment is varied with windows desktop, linux servers, extensive data storage, and some specialised equipment.

This role will suit someone who has a strong IT desktop/server support background, a minimum of 5 years commercial IT experience ideally in the New Zealand marketplace, with experience across linux and windows. A natural affinity to supporting users is essential, an interest in the Film and Television industry would be a big advantage.

A lot of the work is project based and does require:
– flexibility,
– the ability to help build/create project environments,
– some travel to sites and branch offices.

Of benefit would also be:

– A knowledge of Autodesk products including Maya, Max, Flame, Lustre and smoke
– Visual effects pipelines.

The company is growing and this role will develop within the business. A competitive income package will be offered to the successful person. Contact Doug Magee on +64-29 3684624 or jobs@sauce.co.nz
