How to properly use raid? I installed a raid, need cache nodes?

I installed a raid on my mac quad core system.

Now inside nuke, do I simply set the cache directory in the system preferences to my raid, and crank the amount to say 80gb?

Or do I have to use cache nodes or anything,

I am only seeking to speed up the write nodes output times, so please help.

I already put all my media and projects on my raid 0 system, what now?
