Convert grayscale image to normal map in Nuke?

Does anyone know how you could convert a grayscale hightmap image into a normals pass using nuke? I want to then use the normals on a relighting tool. This would basically allow me to have a really nice emboss in nuke that gives much more control than the built in emboss.

Basically you would have to compute vectors based on gradients in the image. At first I thought maybe a matrix filter could be used to create a hacked normal map.. but I just don’t know enough about it to make it happen.

Any nuke wizards out there? 🙂
