Building a computer for doing 3d work

Hi guys

I’m in the process of selecting the components for building a new computer, but i would love to get a general feedback before i make the purchase.

Let me first begin by telling you what i will be using the computer for: Primarily, this will be my everyday computer, for surfing the web, gaming, as well as 3d character building and animation – through Poser, Cinema4d, 3dStudioMax, Vue, Zbrush. (with majority of the work first done in poser… then importing them to the other software for touch ups and render)

for the case:
Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

or
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Processor(cpu):
Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80605I5750
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc…82E16819115215

Graphic Card (gpu): just one:
XFX HD-585X-ZAFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Motherboard is still undecided, but most likely one that supports sli or crossfirex so i can run two graphic cards at the same time in the future if i do decide to get another graphic card to lessen the time required for rendering.

memory: most likely will start out at 4 gigs of ram.

Question:
is this good enough of a rig for what i want to be doing with the machine? is i5 enough? the reason i’m getting i5 is so i can save some money and put that towards the graphic card and getting other decent components for the computer… hard drive, ram, power supply, case.. etc.

how about the graphic card i selected? is it good for doing 3d work? it is an ati card, but if anyone can suggest a better graphic card in relatively the same price range, i’m open to suggestions (doesn’t have to be ati since i haven’t really decided on a good motherboard yet)

lastly, if anyone is tech savvy, how about a motherboard recommendation? one around the 170-199 range. supports either sli or crossfirex or both, as well as all the other good stuff like sata3, usb3. etc.
