Street Fighter 5: Take a look into the Story mode and cancelled characters from the game

Street Fighter 5 fans have been eagerly anticipating the story mode expansion and Capcom seems to have just given the players a treat with the trailer of “A Shadow Falls”, which will be coming for free.

The story mode portrays a story where all the fighters of the world unite in order to subdue the treacherous villain M. Bison and his villainous organisation Shadaloo’s plans to cripple the world by something they have created called the ‘Black Moon’. As Capcom explains, “Seven Black Moons are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power, as the earth falls into darkness.” These black moons seem to be some kind of electromagnetic pulses that are capable of bringing down entire cities, which gives unfathomable powers to M.Bison and Shadaloo. The company further reveals, “Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the Black Moons before it’s too late.”

Reportedly, in the story mode, a player will not be able to choose a specific character, but will be jumping to and forth between all the 16 original characters plus six of the DLC characters announced post release. The DLC along with the story mode will bring two new playable characters: Ibuki and Balrog. This leaves only two remaining characters, Juri and Urien, both of which will be present in the story mode.

The DLC update, 1.04 patch will bring the ingame store, from where game items can be purchased by real money via PlayStation Store or Steam. The patch also includes premium battle costumes for all 20 characters and Karin’s premium summer costume.

The new patch rolls in today, but before you go ahead and stop Shadaloo from bringing the world to its knees, take a look at some of the characters that were outright scrapped from the Street Fighter 5 rooster before they could see the light of the day. As Street Fighter 5, director, Takayuki Nakayama explains in the post, which was translated to English, some of the characters didn’t fit the bill and thus were cancelled, here’s a look at few of them:

A ‘Fighting Literary Master’: An old man who constantly grumbles to himself. The developers thought a pen is not mightier than a sword, in Street Fighter 5 at least.

Literary Master

A ‘Fighting President’: The idea apparently came to the developers while creating Street Fighter 4 too, but no luck for him either.

Fighting President

A ‘Clumsy Cutie’: So, she used tools to fight and her clothes get tattered while fighting, talk about being clumsy. The idea apparently came to mind while conceptualising Laura.

Miss Babo: She’s also the by-product of the Laura-conceptualisation, she even had a name!

Miss Babo

A ‘Soccer Fighter’: Was too familiar to Roberto from Rival Schools, so didn’t make the cut.

The ‘Gen’s Disciple’:
He is a disciple of Gen who learnt his Assassin’s Fist to carry on Gen’s legacy when he fell ill.

The Teacher:
Thought about when conceptualising F.A.N.G, but apparently he was not evil enough.

The Prototype Shadaloo Soldier: Looks good, but not good enough for the game.

The DLC patch with all the content rolls in today. The game is currently available on PS4 and PC.
