Disney Pixar’s ‘Coco’ wins in 11 categories at 45th Annie Awards

After taking the box-office by storm, Disney Pixar’s Coco is now on a relentless awards spree, sweeping everything aside that’s on their way as the movie was bestowed with another 11 of them at the fourty-fifth Annie Awards in LA on Sunday.

An event to recognise excellence in animation, Coco resoundingly stamped its authority by bagging prizes in every category that it was nominated for, including some of the coveted ones such as the best animated feature, best direction, best animated effects and also the best music.

Preceded by a slew accolades at Critics’ Choice Awards, the Golden Globe and many more, the latest set of gong comes hot on its trails.

Another animation film to make it big at the awards was the Afghan featurette The Breadwinner, who not only bagged 10 nominations – the most behind Coco – but was also awarded with best animated feature – independent. The movie encompasses the travails of a young girl from the Taliban-ruled country who braves it all, including dressing up as a boy, to aid her family in earning daily bread and butter.

Best animation special production went to Revolting Rhymes, whereas Dear Basketball won the best animated short subject.

Star Wars release the first teaser of upcoming ‘Solo’; official trailer to drop tomorrow

Even as the fanfare around Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to go strong, the fans of the epic franchise were served a few more bread crumbs to broth as the makers have released the first teaser of its upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Based on the cult figure of Star Wars saga Han Solo, it is the second in the anthology series of the franchise that began with Rogue One in 2016, and stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young smuggler who’d later become the chieftain of Millenium Falcon.

The latest in the space Western series film chronicles the adventures of Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca before the events of the 1977 film, Star Wars. And the 30-second clip launched gives a small glimpse of what’s in store.

Like any other Star Wars movie of the recent times, the visual effects looks top notch as the movie promises another VFX extravaganza. Industrial Light and Magic is once again the helmer for the same.

But stay tuned, as the official trailer of the movie drops tomorrow!

Produced by Lucasfilm, Solo: A Star Wars Story rolls into cinemas on 25 May 2018.

Marvel release new TV spot of ‘Infinity War’ at 2018 Super Bowl

The Super Bowl 2018 has really bowled the fans over, having released a barrage of movie and TV series teasers to binge. One of the more notable ones was certainly that of Avengers: Infinity War, possibly the biggest and the most anticipated movie of the year.

The Marvel magnum opus marks the culmination of 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as our heroes unite in a do or die battle against the mighty Thanos, ready to inflict catastrophe on earth and claim supremacy.

The half a minute teaser that was dropped at the National League Championship on Sunday encompasses various nerve-wracking moments from the movie that paint a grim picture as our heroes prepare for a battle of colossal proportions.

The final chapter in the MCU would feature every hero that we’ve been witness to since 2008, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, who lend a helping to their vigilante counterparts. However, it also sounds the death knell for a few of them as Thanos and his army aren’t like any what they’ve contented with so far.

It isn’t just a battle, its the ultimate war!

Produced by Marvel Studios, Avengers: Infinity War is directed any Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and commences on 27 April 2018 in India.

FAQs:

Q. Why isn’t ‘Off to the Vet’ available in full on YouTube? A. ‘Off to the Vet’ film production and crowdfunding campaign was a huge undertaking for the Simon’s Cat Team. Our hope is to produce more long form, full colour content for our fans but without having to turn to them through crowdfunding again. The film was completed in 2015 and submitted it to a selection of international film festivals over the following months. During this time, it was exclusively available to all funders that contributed via our private production blog. The feedback we have received from our funders has been overwhelming positive and we hope they are extremely proud of making the film a possibility. If you are a funder and have any questions regarding the campaign, please contact us at igg@simonscat.com

Q. What software do you use?
A. Simon’s Cat is made using Adobe Flash / TV Paint animation software.

Q. Why does it take so long to make each Simon’s Cat film?
A. Even though the films are made on computer software, they are still hand-animated in a traditional manner, frame to frame. It usually takes between 12 and 25 drawings to create 1 second of a Simon’s Cat film.

Q. Where can I buy Simon’s Cat merchandise?
A. You can purchase Simon’s Cat products from the official web shop:
