Facing yourself has never been so hard…

Mr. Yellow Sweatshirt

25 years ago today — October 30th, 1992 — the New York City subway installed its first automated turnstiles. Ever since, New Yorkers have struggled to master the Metrocard. In this short documentary, one anonymous man has an exceptionally tough time with his card. We’ve all faced intractable machines, and so we admire his persistence. What is the Best Shoe Polish? | Shoe Polish Review

Learn which shoe polish brand is the best in our newest shoe polish comparison video. Kirby Allison, founder of The Hanger Project, demonstrates the distinctive differences between Saphir Medaille d’Or and other competitors to showcase which one provides the best quality care for your fine dress shoes.

Saphir Médaille d’Or is widely recognized as the best shoe polish brand in the world. Their solvent is an all natural pine based turpentine versus a petroleum based as find in other shoe polish brands. Over the years, using a petroleum product on your shoes is going to break down the fats and lipids that you find in natural leather resulting in the degradation of the leather itself. Investing in nice, quality shoe polish can dramatically extend the lifetime of your shoes.

Space Science Sound System | Peter Kirn | TEDxESA

TEDxESA talk at the European Space Agency on 11 November, 2015:
Peter Kirn, Berlin-based electronic musician and media artist, prepared something extra special for TEDxESA. He used field recording techniques, impromptu sampling, and archival work to build a library of instruments based on the sounds of space exploration and space research that help us imagine the worlds of spaceflight and science.
With his impromptu “Space Science Sound System”, he remixed sounds of ESA’s technology, research, testing and exploration with inspirational “vocals” captured from the TEDxESA talks – and then turned the material into a jam that transformed lecture to dance hall.
Please find additional info and all the sounds recorded at ESTEC at http://blogs.esa.int/communication/2016/03/02/more-sounds-from-space/

Cinesite Studios to animate first CG feature adaptation of ‘The Addams Family’

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) have tapped visual effects house Cinesite Studios to provide computer generated animation and digital visual effects for the feature film based on the The Addams Family, the macabre clan made famous by cartoonist Charles Addams.

Production is underway at Cinesite, Vancouver to immediately begin work on the feature. During the course of the production it is expected that over 200 artists, technicians and support staff will be employed to work on the film at the Vancouver studio. Line producer Barbara Zelinski will oversee for Cinesite Studios.

The film will be directed by Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monster vs. AliensSausage Party) produced by Vernon, Gail Berman under her banner The Jackal Group and Alex Schwartz. It will be executive produced by Andrew Mittman and Kevin Miserocchi. Tabitha Shick, MGM’s executive director, Worldwide Motion Pictures is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House) wrote the screenplay based on the cartoon series with revisions by Matt Lieberman.

‘The Addams Family’ animated series

Group CEO Antony Hunt said, “We couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with MGM and their trust in us as a leading animation studio to re-introduce The Addams Family to a brand-new generation.”

The Addams Family is a satirical inversion of the ideal American family- an eccentric, wealthy clan who delight in the macabre and is unaware that people find them bizarre or frightening. They originally appeared as an unrelated group of 150 single panel cartoons by Addams, about half of which were originally published in The New Yorker between debuting in 1938 and Addams’ 1988 death. They have since been adapted to other media, including the well-known television series, a series of live-action films, and most recently a Broadway musical.

The Addams Family (MGM) will be the fourth CG animated feature to be created by Cinesite after The Star (Sony Pictures Animation), Gnome Alone (3QU Media) and Charming (3QU Media). The production will be based in British Columbia while Cinesite’s Quebec studio continues work on the remaining projects within 3QU Media’s slate and other feature animation productions in development.

TEGC 2017: Strong on branding, lacking on versatility

Organised by Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The grand finale of the fourth Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup (TEGC) concluded at Infinity Mall in Mumbai amidst a fair few attendees on Saturday, 28 October.

Like previous years, this edition featured some of the known gaming brands and gear during the finale including Acer, Adata, Asus, AverMedia, BenQ, CoolerMaster, CyberPower, D-link, FSP, Gigabyte, InWin, MSI, Optoma, Thermaltake and Transcend.

The set-up was however pretty much the same as last year, the third (previous) edition of the tournament’s finale was held at the same venue with pretty much the same brands showcasing their products. For example, MSI had their counter placed at the exact same place with the same VR demo that they had showcased last year. Not much were the queues at the other booths either.

Up for grabs was an amount of Rs. 10 lakh in total, with the winning team Team Buriza and Team TMG taking home Rs. 2 lakh each, Team RoG Titans and Shooting Monkeys winning second place with Rs. 1 lakh each, and team GIFF Sponsors and Team SRA and team GO Figure and Team Elements winning the third and fourth place respectively with Rs. 50,000 each. Finishing fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place are teams Youth Buriza, Ferocious, Aggressive 5 and White Shadows respectively for Dota 2, and Sempex, V Ban, Makeway and God Particles for CS:GO, taking home Rs. 25,000 each.

Even before the eliminations for the cup started, TEGC claims to have reached out to people across India with the TEGamingRig. This gaming vehicle cruised to 50 locations in India and covered nearly the entire western and northern regions before returning to Mumbai. The TEGamingRig apparently journeyed for a 100 days in an attempt to promote and showcase a range of gaming products – from gaming gear, peripherals, software to other components.

However, at the finale the situation with the “TEGamingRig” was pretty perplexing. It was positioned right next to the venue, through the glass doors. While the Rig, I am sure, was functioning well, the glass doors leading to it were shut for most of the time. Going by that, even if someone attended the finals’ venue and wanted to try the systems and games on the rig, they would have had to go all the way in order to make it through and hence, the station was left pretty much unattended.

The elimination rounds for the pan India championship kicked off in Chennai on 1 September followed by a line-up of five more cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Delhi.

Speaking at the event, deputy director of strategic marketing department, Mario Tasi said, “The popularity of TEGC is only growing each year and we are extremely proud that we are able to bring to India some of Taiwan’s best gaming experiences. TEGC gives passionate gamers the chance to experience some great gaming, technology and the chance to win big money and participate in other international gaming championships. We hope that we keep receiving this love from gamers across India.”

Some players however were not so happy with the structure of the tournament. The initial knock-out rounds of the group stages on the final day were best of one and not best of three, which left a not-so-happy impression on some of the players.
Maybe more activities, more games or some changes in the line up to break the monotony would be a task for the organisers next year.

A tournament which can be considered as one of the tier one championships in India will hopefully collect necessary feedback and make a better comeback next year, not just in the prospect of branding, but gaming as well.
