AV sync TouchDesigner AbletonLive

Short video about TouchDesigner and Ableton live synchronization to make generative visual
This is the live set made for Boom 2016, result of an ongoing investigation on Sacred Geometry.
On this investigation the goal is to translate geometry proportions into music.
Is the first output of that investigation, and the system is still very simple:
– there are 6 possible layers of geometry, spinning concentrically.
– when the vertices cross the green line, they generate a musical note, that is interpreted and modulated live.
The live set is divided in 7 themes, or archetypes, inspired on the 7 great “Shamans” of the Sky.
(please enjoy it with a good sound system and full HD resolution!)
Technical notes:
Geometry fully generated in realtime, coded in TouchDesigner.
Music interpreted in Ableton Live, via OSC connection. The live set was played at Boom 2016 Chillout Gardens 3D ambisonics sound system.
The reference frequency for A4 is 432hz.

A compilation of classic mid-century commercials for Grape-Nuts Flakes, a breakfast cereal by Post. I’m kinda amazed these commercials still exist, given how many actual shows of the period are lost. I admit I borrowed these commercials from the adviews section of the Internet Archive.
Ten hits from the 1900s for which the music was written by J. Fred Helf. The recordings are by popular singers of the period. The songs and who sings them:
“Someone Thinks of Someone” – Henry Burr
“When You Know You’re Not Forgotten by the Girl You Can’t Forget” – Frank C. Stanley
“When the Bluebirds Nest Again Nellie Gray” – Manuel Romain
“When Darling Bess First Whispered Yes” – Manuel Romain
“Go Easy Mabel” – Edward Meeker
“Wedding Bells” – American Quartet
“When the Evening Bells are Chiming Songs of Auld Lang Syne” – Frank C. Stanley
“When Summer Tells Autumn Good-Bye” – Manuel Romain
“When the Springtime Brings the Roses, Jessie Dear” – Manuel Romain
“Pennyland” – Manuel Romain
Most of these are from Edison Records, except for one which is by Indestructible Records. They can be legally downloaded from the UCSB Cylinder Audio Archive. If there is any interest I might do additional composer compilations. J. Fred Helf wrote many hits in his day, pretty much all of them long forgotten.
