The Mill è uno dei grandi punti di riferimento mondiali per chi fa il nostro lavoro. Pochi giorni fa hanno rilasciato un nuovo showreel dedicato ai settori TV e Film con alcuni dei loro migliori lavori. Dagli effetti speciali per la serie tv Merlin, al 3D delle Cronache di Narnia passando per numerosi blockbuster, The Mill non delude mai. Per chi ancora non li conoscesse, The Mill è stat fondata nel 1990 da Robin Shenfield e Pat Joseph, che attualmente guidano ancora il gruppo formato da più di 500 talenti.

need a music video editor – $250-1000 per job (most will be $500)

I need a music video editor to edit my videos regularly. I will be paying $250-1000 per job depending on how good I need it to be. Once things take off I will up the pay.

I’m already booked by major artists and in a position to make things take off. Help me do that and you will be rewarded greatly.

Multichanel problem

Hi! Well first of all, i am new here, so GREETINGS TO ALL OF YOU!

Ok, i have a strange problem. I am rendering out an EXR with RGBA channels and aditional alpha chanels for separat elements, that i need for later colorcorrection in a colorcorrection studio. Channels are present everywere in the tree, but when i add f_ReGrain nod, channels seem to disappear. I dont know why, but i hope someone can help me.

I hope i meade it clear. Sorry for the tarzan english 🙂

Knoll Unmult equivalent for Nuke???

Hi, I’m looking for a way to key out elements like fire, smoke, etc, from dark backgrounds the way I’m used to in After Effects: using Knoll Unmult, wich geenerates great alpha mattes from dark background elements.

Recently I’ve needed to key out some fire and the only working solution was using luminance keying cause doing a simple "screen" wasnt working since it doesnt retain the shadows.

$10,000 Budget to Build new rig

I need help picking out the best of the best computer components for a multi cpu rig. I want it to be fast,and I want to have great rendering results. How big of a rig can i get? and yes, the computer is going to get built from the ground up. all help is appreciated. 😀

Also Iam a PC based guy. never did like macs

Short film WIP, POV needed!

8bit image + 16 bit dpx

hi
i had this task that i should replace the sky,
my footage is 16 bit dpx from si-2k
and images of course are 8bit
so i grade the footage(dpx)first and then composite it with the 8 bit image and then regrade it back (using reverse button)
is the pipeline correct or when i go for negative printing , i would have to pay for re-printings.!! 😀

Film Festivals & grading

Hi all,
I wanted to ask all those that have had their movies in film festivals some FAQ’s:

In the past, if I were to Grade my films for a TV set, I could play it at home and get a "general" Idea what it "Should" look like when distributed to others.

But when your film is being projected on a 10′, 20 ‘ etc. Screen, Via PROJECTION, I have NO IDEA what to expect.
For example,
Will the Blacks be way lighter?
Will the Luma be dark & muddy?, will they be blown out?
Will any grain in the film be 30 inches high?
Should I make a version ESPECIALLY for projections?
If so, what guidelines are there?

If I go to BEST BUY & buy a 100" projection, will that represent a film festival’s Projection (to some degree) ??

Anyone out there with stories about their own film being screened?
Any surprises when you saw it?

Jungle Madness Short

Here are some stills from what we have been working on the last couple of months. Our story takes place in the middle of the tropical jungle where two photographers crashed their plane. We follow them through a painfull journey struggling for food. Our deadline is set to 6th of june.
